Google launches AI for finding cheap flights. But it's skipping the Czech Republic for now

  • Google launches Flight Deals - an AI tool for finding the cheapest flights
  • It works like a chatbot, just describe your wishes in natural language
  • The beta version is currently only available in the USA, Canada, and India; we have to wait in the Czech Republic

Google yesterday introduced a new tool, Flight Deals, which uses artificial intelligence to find the cheapest flights. However, the joy of Czech travelers will only last until they try to launch the service – the page only displays a brief message stating that “this feature is not yet supported in your area”. It’s a shame, because the idea is interesting.

Talk to AI like a friend

Flight Deals works completely differently from classic Google Flights. Instead of filling out forms and clicking on calendars, you simply type what you’re looking for – as if you were talking to a friend. For example, “a week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, direct flights only” or “a ten-day ski trip to a world-class resort”.

The system then searches various combinations of dates, destinations, and airlines in the background to find the cheapest options. You’ll receive the results clearly organized, without the need to manually try different dates and airports.

Who is it actually for?

Google clearly states that Flight Deals is for flexible travelers whose main goal is to save money. If you know exactly where and when you want to fly – for example, for a long-planned vacation to Hawaii or a business trip to a conference – this tool won’t help you much. It’s more for those who say: “I want to go somewhere, but I don’t care where, as long as it’s not expensive.”

That’s a bit limiting. Most people have at least a rough idea of where they want to go, or have a limited time window due to vacation. For them, the classic Google Flights interface remains a more practical choice. Google, after all, admits this itself – Flight Deals exists as a standalone tool alongside the original service, which isn’t going anywhere.

Beta version only for the chosen few

The service is gradually rolling out in beta for users in the USA, Canada, and India. Google first wants to gather feedback and find out how AI can improve travel planning. There’s no need to register for the tool – once it’s available, it will appear in the top left menu on the main Google Flights page.

When will it arrive here?

Unfortunately, Google has not provided any timeline for expansion to other countries. While a Czech version of the page exists (with the cute slogan “Dream more. Pay less.”), it currently only informs about unavailability. Given that it’s a beta version and Google wants to gather feedback, it could take months, or even longer.

It’s a shame, because the tool could be useful for spontaneous travelers or those looking for inspiration for a cheap vacation. On the other hand – classic Google Flights works excellently and is probably still a more practical choice for most people with concrete travel plans.

Would you appreciate this service in the Czech Republic too?
