Google continues its campaign to integrate artificial intelligence into every application and service. This time, it’s the turn of the mobile browser Chrome for Android and iOS, which is getting a new and very prominent shortcut for AI Mode. Google clearly realizes that younger generations are heading straight to ChatGPT or even TikTok instead of classic search, and so it is trying to get its AI capabilities as close to users as possible.

The AI Mode shortcut is everywhere now

The new AI Mode shortcut appears directly below the search bar on Chrome’s homepage. This means you’ll see it every time you open a new tab. Google is thus doing exactly what it does best – subtly pushing you in the direction it wants the internet to go.

The shortcut is currently available in the United States, but Google promises expansion to more than 160 countries and territories.

What AI Mode actually does

According to Google, AI Mode allows you to ask more complex, multi-layered questions and then delve deeper into the topic with follow-up queries and relevant links. In practice, this means you can ask the AI, for example: “Which phone under 15 thousand has the best camera and battery life?” and instead of searching twenty reviews, you’ll get a structured answer with links to specific models. We covered it in more detail in one of our previous articles.

Do you use AI Mode, or do you prefer classic search?
