Google no longer wants to wait with the Pixel 10a. In a 15-second YouTube video, it officially showed its upcoming mid-range phone for the first time, in an interesting blue-purple finish. The shade appears slightly darker than last year’s Iris color on the Pixel 9a, but lighter than Indigo, in which the flagship Pixel 10s arrived. The full unveiling, including the start of pre-orders, will take place on February 18.

Flush cameras and flat edges

From the short video, we can notice one design change compared to its predecessor. The cameras on the Pixel 10a are completely flush with the back of the phone, whereas on the Pixel 9a, the bezel around the camera module still protruded slightly. On the other hand, the flat side edges, which also defined last year’s model, remain.

What Google did not show in the video is the thickness of the bezels around the display. However, in materials published by well-known leaker Evan Blass just before the official preview was released, the bezels appear quite thick. We’ll see how it looks live.

What we know about the specs so far

Based on earlier leaks, the Pixel 10a is expected to get the older Tensor G4 chipset instead of the new G5, which powers the flagship Pixel 10s. Google is likely reacting to higher manufacturing costs associated with moving chipset production to TSMC and is trying to keep the price at an acceptable level.

Other expected compromises include the absence of a telephoto lens and some AI features, including Magic Cue. The phone should also stick with slower UFS 3.1 memory. A minor improvement is expected to be the display brightness increased to 2,200 nits compared to 2,000 nits on the Pixel 9a.

It remains to wait less than two weeks until Google reveals the full specifications and price. The key will be whether the Pixel 10a, with its older hardware, can compete against increasingly aggressive mid-range competition in 2026.
