An ultrawide QD-OLED Samsung monitor for eighteen thousand. Two years ago, that sounded like a joke — now the Samsung Odyssey G85SB is on Heureka from 17,990 CZK in Czech distribution. The original price was 35,000 CZK. Now for half the price, you get a 34″ ultrawide with practically perfect black, lightning-fast response, and a 175 Hz refresh rate.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you want a premium gaming monitor with a QD-OLED panel, ultrawide resolution, and sub-millisecond response time.
⚠️ Consider that OLED carries the risk of burn-in with long-term static content, and black has a slight purple tint in daylight.
💡 For 17,990 CZK you get 3440 × 1440 px, 175 Hz, FreeSync Premium, DisplayHDR True Black 400, Tizen OS, and USB-C connectivity.

Why QD-OLED

QD-OLED combines the infinite contrast of OLED technology with the vibrant colors of Quantum Dot. A contrast ratio of 1,000,000 : 1 means absolute black without backlighting — no blooming, no gray zones. The 0.03 ms GTG response time is the fastest you can get on a monitor — motion is crystal clear even in the fastest shooters. The 3440 × 1440 resolution in a 21:9 aspect ratio offers more workspace and gaming area than classic 16:9.

Support for both AMD FreeSync Premium and G-Sync compatibility eliminates tearing. DisplayHDR True Black 400 extracts the maximum from HDR content. The built-in Tizen OS with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allows streaming directly from the monitor without a connected PC. The USB-C port handles both video transmission and charging — one connection from your laptop and you’re good to go.

What to expect

The OLED panel carries the risk of burn-in with long-term display of static content — Windows taskbar, in-game HUD. Samsung offers protections (pixel refresh, logo dimming), but for a monitor you’ll also use for work, this is relevant. The black color has a slight purple tint under direct lighting — a typical feature of QD-OLED panels, you won’t notice it in the dark. The maximum brightness of 250 nits (SDR) is not dazzling, but it’s more than enough for gaming and movie content in a darker room. And the 1800R curvature — some people like it, others prefer a flat panel.
