Highly-rated Sonoff smart plug measures consumption. It hasn't been cheaper on Alza for almost a year.

How much electricity does a space heater in a child’s room or an old refrigerator in the basement actually consume? A smart plug costing a few hundred crowns will give you the answer, and you can also turn it on and off from your phone anywhere. The Sonoff iPlug S60 smart plug now costs 279 Kč instead of 349 Kč with code ALZADNY20, and it hasn’t been this cheap since last November.

Quick summary:
✅ It makes sense if you want to remotely switch on a space heater, lamp, or Christmas lights and simultaneously see how much each appliance consumes.
⚠️ Consider that the plug requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, an eWeLink app account, and does not have a grounding pin on the output.
💡 For 279 Kč, you get a plug that over 20,000 people have bought on Alza, and 96% of them recommend it.

Why is 279 Kč a good price?

The Sonoff iPlug S60 typically sells for 349 Kč on Alza, which the e-shop also states as the minimum price before the promotion. With code ALZADNY20, you can now buy it for 279 Kč, which is 70 Kč cheaper. In absolute terms, it’s not a staggering amount, but it’s a fifth of the plug’s price. And the price on Alza hasn’t been this low since last November.

However, it’s fair to admit that smaller retailers can offer an even more attractive price – according to Heureka, the best offer starts at 210 crowns. It is then up to each individual to decide where to purchase the plug based on their own priorities.

If you plan to smartly switch multiple appliances at once, also check out the two-pack. With code ALZADNY25, it costs 517 Kč instead of 689 Kč, so one unit comes out to less than 259 Kč. Compared to two individually purchased plugs, you save an additional 41 Kč. We already recommended the set back in April.

Rating 4.8 out of 5: how did the plug win over customers?

Customer satisfaction is the strongest argument for this plug. Out of 280 customers, 246 gave it a full five stars, almost nine out of ten, and the resulting average is 4.8 out of 5. The product is recommended by 96% of buyers, over 20,000 units have been sold, and the return rate remains low at 0.64%.

In written reviews, the most frequent praise is for quick pairing with a phone, often just by scanning a QR code in the app. People also appreciate the compact body, which doesn’t take up much space in the socket, and clear consumption graphs. It’s also telling that many reviewers have several plugs at home and have bought additional units. More experienced users mention that the plug can also be connected to Home Assistant.

What all can you do with the plug?

You plug the smart plug into the mains and connect it to your home Wi-Fi via the eWeLink app. It doesn’t require any central unit, but it can connect with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, so you can turn off a lamp with your voice. According to Alza, it can handle appliances up to 16 A and 4,000 W, so it can even manage a space heater or an electric kettle.

The most interesting feature is real-time consumption measurement. In the app, you’ll see how much the connected appliance is currently drawing, and daily, monthly, and annual statistics are also available. According to Alza, the app stores them for up to six months. Anyone who wants to find out which appliance in the household is unnecessarily driving up their electricity bill has a cheap meter at hand.

Nechybí dětská pojistka ani ochrana proti přetížení a zkratu, kterou uvádí Alza.

What to watch out for before buying?

The most common criticism in reviews points to the missing grounding pin. The plug is Schuko type and grounds via side contacts. Most modern appliances have a combined plug that fits, but older plugs with only a hole for a pin cannot be connected. Before ordering, it’s a good idea to check the appliance’s plug.

Also, be aware that the plug connects only to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and control is via the manufacturer’s account and cloud. Some users also report that after a power outage, the plug remains off until you turn it on again. So, it’s not an ideal choice for a freezer in the garage. And anyone who wants to upload their own firmware to the plug and operate it completely without the cloud, according to one reviewer’s experience, will not succeed.

Who will benefit from the discount?

The Sonoff iPlug S60 is a hit for cottage owners who want to turn on the space heater on their way there, for anyone tired of manually switching Christmas lights, and for the curious who want to know what consumes the most power at home. For 279 Kč with code ALZADNY20, you get an excellently rated plug with consumption measurement, and if you want more, opt for the two-pack. Conversely, if you mainly have older appliances with only a grounding pin plug or want to switch a freezer, look elsewhere.
