Honor Magic 8 Pro is on sale: For 22,872 CZK, it's one of the best-equipped Androids!

Looking for a Chinese flagship that isn’t afraid to go up against the Galaxy S26 Ultra or Pixel? The Honor Magic 8 Pro has only been on the European market for a few months and has already dropped from 31,990 CZK to 22,872 CZK via Heureka. That’s a discount of over 9,000 on a brand new flagship that was still at full price this January. Let’s see if it’s worth it.

A True Flagship Without Compromises

The Honor Magic 8 Pro is one of the best-equipped Androids you’ll find this year. It’s powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in a 3nm process from TSMC, offering 20% higher CPU performance and 23% higher graphics performance compared to the previous generation. Plus, 12 GB of fast LPDDR5X memory and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage mean the phone can handle demanding multitasking, AI tasks, and high-detail gaming without hesitation. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Magic 8 Pro scores around 3.5 million points — placing it in the league of the most powerful phones on the market today.

The main attraction, however, is the camera. The main 50Mpx sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and optical stabilization is complemented by a 50Mpx ultrawide lens with a 122° field of view, but the real star is the 200Mpx telephoto lens with 3.7× optical zoom. A large 1/1.4″ sensor and CIPA-standard stabilization with up to 5.5 EV effectiveness mean the phone can capture sharp images of distant objects even handheld and in low light.

What’s Worth Mentioning and a Few Caveats

The display is a 6.71″ LTPO OLED with 2808 × 1256 px resolution, adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz, and peak HDR brightness of up to 6,000 nits. This is currently the brightest panel in the segment, so readability in direct sunlight is not an issue. The display is protected by NanoCrystal Shield, which Honor advertises as ten times more resistant to drops. In addition, you get one of the most durable bodies on the market — IP68, IP69, and IP69K certification means the phone can withstand not only a drop into a sink but also a high-pressure water jet. For security, there’s dual 3D biometrics combining facial recognition with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.

A new feature is a dedicated AI button positioned similarly to Camera Control on new iPhones. A short, long, or double press launches the camera, Google Lens, AI tools, or the YOYO assistant. Some reviewers find the selection of functions limited, but as a physical shortcut to the camera, the button truly makes sense. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with Auracast, and NFC for payments complete the picture of premium features.

One caveat, however, is worth mentioning. The European version has a smaller battery (6,270 mAh) than the Chinese original with 7,200 mAh. The reason is EU regulations that limit the size of a single cell — Honor would have to use two cells, which increases manufacturing costs. In reality, this means approximately 1 to 2 hours less screen-on time, but even so, it’s enough for 2 days of normal use. Furthermore, 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging will replenish the full battery significantly faster than competitors can manage.

At 22,872 CZK, this is one of the best value offers for a premium Android in the current generation. The Honor Magic 8 Pro offers almost everything that the Galaxy S26 Ultra or iPhone 17 Pro does, and in some respects — display brightness, telephoto lens, durability — it even surpasses them. At its regular price of almost 32,000, the decision would be tougher, but with this discount, it’s an offer that’s worth it.
