Hooray! Spotify is introducing lossless streaming, and you can activate it in the Czech Republic now Home News Spotify is launching lossless music streaming directly within the Premium subscription The Czech Republic is among the first 12 countries where the feature is already available Lossless audio supports quality up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz in FLAC format Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 10. 9. 2025 10:30 Advertisement After years of speculation and promises, Spotify has finally started rolling out the long-awaited lossless music streaming feature. The biggest surprise is that this premium feature is not part of a more expensive plan, but is being integrated directly into the existing Premium subscription. Perhaps even more remarkable is that the Czech Republic is among the first 12 countries where the new feature is already available. The End of Waiting for High-Quality Sound Spotify Lossless brings the ability to stream music in quality up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz in FLAC format, which represents a significant leap from the previous maximum quality of 320 kbps in MP3. The feature is gradually rolling out to Premium subscribers in selected countries, with users receiving a notification directly in the app once the feature is available on their account. Gustav Gyllenhammar, VP of Subscriptions at Spotify, stated in a press release that the company dedicated sufficient time to developing the feature to ensure quality, ease of use, and transparency. Users will thus always have an overview of the quality they are currently streaming. Czech Republic Among the First Countries While competing services like Apple Music and Tidal have offered lossless streaming for several years, Spotify took its time with this feature. It’s an even bigger surprise that the Czech Republic is among the first 12 countries where Lossless is already available. In addition to the Czech Republic, users in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, USA, and the United Kingdom are gaining access to the feature. By October, the feature should gradually expand to more than 50 markets worldwide. How to Activate Lossless Audio? Spotify allows for individual sound quality settings for different situations. Users can choose the quality separately for Wi-Fi connection, mobile data, and downloaded songs. Five quality levels are available: Low, Normal, High, Very High, and now Lossless. The application also displays how much data each quality level consumes. Lossless is available on mobile devices, desktop, and tablets, as well as on many devices supporting Spotify Connect (but you must activate it separately on each device). Supported audio equipment manufacturers include Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser. Support for devices from Sonos and Amazon will arrive next month. To activate it in the mobile app, simply go to Settings, where it is located in the playback quality section. Will you use lossless streaming on Spotify, or is standard quality sufficient for you?
