After five years, Huawei is introducing a successor to its running watch. The Watch GT Runner 2 will arrive on the Czech market on March 31st and will primarily target active athletes looking for a combination of precise measurement and long battery life. Pre-orders are already open on Alza.cz in three color variants — Dawn Orange, Midnight Black, and Dusk Blue.

Titanium case and GPS that won’t lose signal

Compared to the first generation, Huawei has focused mainly on the construction and accuracy of positioning data. The case uses an ultra-thin titanium alloy formed by nano-molding, making the watch lighter and slimmer. The display is covered by the second generation of Kunlun glass with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, so reading values in direct sunlight should not be a problem.

A key new feature is the 3D floating antenna combined with an algorithm for intelligent position coverage. Huawei promises 20% more accurate positioning than its predecessor, even in tunnels, underpasses, or on shaded routes — precisely where ordinary sports watches often lose signal and then draw fantastical zigzags on the map.

ECG, marathon mode, and two-week battery life

The watch is equipped with ECG and heart rate variability (HRV) measurement, features that are not common in running watches in this price category. Runners will appreciate the intelligent marathon mode, developed in collaboration with the dsm-firmenich team and calibrated with elite athletes. In practice, it should function as a real-time coach — monitoring pace, recommending strategy, and offering performance analysis after the race.

According to Huawei, battery life is up to 14 days with typical use, or 32 hours with continuous outdoor training tracking with GPS. This figure is attributed to a new layered silicon battery with 68% higher energy density. The watch is compatible with both Android and iOS and also supports contactless payments via Curve Pay.

Price and availability in Czechia

The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 will go on sale on March 31st with an introductory price of 8,999 CZK (10% discount). After the promotion ends on May 3rd, the price will return to 9,999 CZK.
