However, according to price comparison on Heureka, the Samsung QE83S85FAE starts from 39,732 CZK, while at its market launch it cost 119,990 CZK. At the end of April, the price was still at 47,990 CZK, so it dropped by another more than 8 thousand within a few days. The main draw is the combination of an OLED panel with self-illuminating pixels and a giant 209 cm diagonal at a price that no one expected for a similar OLED size just a year ago. The drop from 119,990 CZK at launch to the current 39,732 CZK means that Samsung is entering a price range where 75–77″ variants from competitors used to be sold.

Key parameters: what this 83″ OLED can do

At the heart of the TV is the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor with 128 neural networks, which handles 4K AI Upscaling, dynamic image adjustment (Color Booster Pro, Real Depth Enhancer), and adaptive sound. The panel runs at a native 100 Hz and, thanks to Motion Xcelerator technology, handles 4K at up to 120 Hz on all four HDMI ports – which is still rather an exception for an OLED TV in this price range. Among HDR formats, it offers OLED HDR and HDR10+ Adaptive and Gaming, but beware: Samsung has long not supported Dolby Vision in its TVs, which bothers some users.

The built-in speakers have a 2.0 output of 20 W with Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony support – sufficient for casual news or series viewing, but for movies on an 83″ screen, most users purchase a soundbar, ideally from Samsung’s portfolio for seamless synchronization via Q-Symphony.

The One UI Tizen operating system receives 7 years of software updates, and the SmartThings hub and Knox security platform are integrated. Several users mention longer loading times for the Tizen system, especially with the 83″ variant (one reviewer states that the system is snappier on smaller diagonals). Repeatedly, there are complaints about the missing Dolby Vision support and unstable stand feet – if you’re not wall-mounting, expect careful handling. Also mentioned are poorer access to connectors located on the side from below and limited support for some formats in the internal player.

When it doesn’t make sense

If Dolby Vision is crucial for you (e.g., for HDR streaming via Apple TV or some Blu-ray titles), Samsung simply won’t serve here – HDR10+ is not as widespread in the Czech Republic. Similarly, if you have a smaller living room and a shorter viewing distance than 3.5–4 meters, an 83″ diagonal will be excessive, and a 65″ or 77″ variant of the same model, which costs significantly less, would be a better choice. And if you rely on cloud gaming without a console via Gaming Hub, verify its availability in the Czech Republic – Samsung does not officially list this service for the Czech region.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

An 83″ OLED TV for 39,732 CZK is an offer that seemed like science fiction a year ago. The Samsung S85F makes sense as a large cinema-TV for a spacious living room, where you’ll appreciate OLED blacks and a large diagonal for movies, sports, and next-gen console gaming. If you’re not hindered by the absence of Dolby Vision and can live with 20W speakers (and supplement them with a soundbar), you’re getting a TV at a fraction of its launch price that maintains image quality on par with significantly more expensive models.
