HyperOS 3 officially! Xiaomi adopts Dynamic Island and adds AI that orders food for you Home News HyperOS 3 brings significant lock screen improvements with AI-generated wallpapers and live effects The new Super Island feature copies Dynamic Island from iPhone and allows tracking up to three active processes simultaneously Xiaomi has improved connectivity with Apple devices, including photo sharing with iPhone and synchronization with MacBooks Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 28. 8. 2025 08:30 Advertisement Xiaomi has officially unveiled HyperOS 3, its new major system update based on Android 16. The manufacturer promises a modernized design, improved lock screen features, a new “Super Island” inspired by iPhones, and a surprisingly significant improvement in compatibility with Apple devices. The first beta version is already becoming available for selected models in China, with a gradual rollout to other regions in the coming weeks. New design and improved lock screen Super Island – another inspiration from Apple Surprising integration with the Apple ecosystem Improved system applications and new AI features Beta release plan and supported devices New design and improved lock screen HyperOS 3 brings a subtle facelift to system icons, which appear more three-dimensional and have higher contrast. Status icons resemble the Material 3 Expressive design from stock Android, and the battery percentage is now displayed directly inside the battery icon. The changes are not revolutionary but contribute to a more modern system appearance. However, the main star of the show is the completely redesigned lock screen. Xiaomi follows the current trend of “immersive” lock screens and adds the ability to create live effects using artificial intelligence from ordinary photos. For example, you can apply a Ghibli studio style, add a dreamy effect, or edit a photo in Disney style. For those who don’t have time for their own creative edits, a library of ready-made lock screens created by the community is available. The improvements also include a new “cinematic mode” that adds a 3D effect similar to the Spatial Scene feature from iOS 26. Additionally, the clock on the lock screen can now be centered on the display, and you can choose from various fonts that automatically adapt to the themes of your wallpaper. Super Island – another inspiration from Apple Xiaomi has introduced a feature called Super Island, which is strikingly similar to Dynamic Island from iPhones. This new feature utilizes the Live Updates function from Android 16 and appears as an interactive element around the selfie camera. Super Island can display up to three active processes simultaneously – one as a floating window, another as a “pill,” and a third as a circular icon. You can easily switch between activities and drag to the center of the display to open the corresponding application. Xiaomi has also added the ability to share content by dragging directly from Super Island to another application. The manufacturer claims that the feature currently supports over 70 applications, with more popular applications in preparation. Surprising integration with the Apple ecosystem Perhaps the most surprising aspect of HyperOS 3 is the significant improvement in interoperability with Apple devices. Xiaomi is launching a desktop application that works on both macOS and iPadOS, enabling a range of interesting features for users moving between both ecosystems. Key features include the ability to run Android applications directly on a MacBook, unlock a Xiaomi phone using Touch ID on a MacBook, display multiple application windows on a computer, and share photos between devices without needing to switch between phone and computer. Xiaomi also adds a feature similar to Apple NameDrop for quickly sharing photos, videos, and Wi-Fi passwords by bringing phones close together. This feature works both between Xiaomi devices and with iPhones, further bridging the gap between ecosystems. The manufacturer did not specify details, but it likely uses NFC to establish the connection. Improved system applications and new AI features The Gallery in HyperOS 3 has received a significant modernization. It now allows easier searching for photos based on your search habits, switching between different layouts, and sorting photos by date or continuous view. Search capabilities have been improved thanks to AI, which recognizes over 30,000 keywords and 10 categories for faster results. An interesting feature is an algorithm that facilitates searching for pet photos. Similar to facial recognition, the system uses recognition of animal physical features to aggregate their photos. HyperOS 3 also introduces the Circle Screen feature, which is similar to Circle to Search, allowing you to circle a part of the screen to get answers related to the selected content. The most significant addition is the integration of “agent” artificial intelligence, which can perform chains of tasks – for example, ordering food from a restaurant or starting navigation to a place you want to visit. Xiaomi claims that by the end of September 2025, this feature will support over 80 applications. Beta release plan and supported devices Xiaomi has confirmed that the beta version of HyperOS 3 will start being distributed from August 29, 2025, to selected devices in China. The schedule for a global release has not yet been officially confirmed, but based on past experience, the stable version could be expected to arrive in Europe and other regions by the end of 2025. The first wave of beta versions includes models Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi 15S Pro, Redmi K80, Redmi K80 Pro and tablets Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro. The second wave from September 17 includes Mi Mix Flip 2 and other devices, while the third wave from September 30 will also bring the update to last year’s Xiaomi 14 and Redmi K70 series. For Czech users, the Xiaomi 15/Ultra and Xiaomi 14 models, which are available on our market, will be particularly relevant. For Redmi K series phones, we should expect an update for their global counterparts sold under different designations. What do you think of the new HyperOS 3?
