A regular fan is a candidate for the most boring appliance in an apartment – but the Siguro Motion Sense P500B from Alza looks more like a piece of smart home tech, even though it unfortunately doesn’t support smartphone connectivity. Instead of a rotary knob, it reacts to hand movements, and its front camera with artificial intelligence can recognize where you are in the room and direct the airflow towards you.

You control it with hand movements

The main draw is gesture control. According to Alza, you just need to show your hand in front of the fan: a circle made with your thumb and index finger (the “OK” gesture) turns the device on or speeds it up, a “V” gesture with two fingers switches horizontal oscillation between 30, 60, and 90 degrees, and an open palm turns it off. According to the manufacturer, the camera works at a distance of 0.5 to 3.5 meters, and you need to stand in front of its front side.

The Siguro Motion Sense camera tracks you around the room

The second unusual feature is motion tracking. According to Siguro, the front camera continuously monitors your location and automatically directs the airflow to keep you cool even as you move around the room. There are three modes to choose from: classic oscillation, single-person tracking, and multi-person tracking, where the fan recognizes several people and alternately adjusts the blowing angle.

The manufacturer addresses the question of privacy: the integrated camera reportedly does not take photos or videos, stores nothing, and without a Wi-Fi connection, has no way to send anything. All motion and gesture recognition is said to occur locally directly within the device.

Quieter than a whisper and energy-efficient

Inside, a brushless BLDC motor operates, which, according to Siguro, manages the lowest speed with a noise level of just 26.7 decibels – quieter than a whisper – and reaches 59.7 decibels at full power. According to the manufacturer, power consumption is only 24 W, which is said to be about 60 percent less than conventional fans with an AC motor. It offers 12 speeds, three automatic modes including a night mode, and two-axis oscillation with an airflow range of up to 5.8 meters.

How much it costs and where to buy it

The fan is available as a new product. It costs 2,499 CZK normally, and with an AlzaPlus+ membership, it currently comes out to 2,249 CZK. Siguro also adds a three-year warranty.

Is a fan with gesture control and a camera worth the extra cost compared to a standard model?
