Is Nvidia preparing a winter surprise? RTX 50 SUPER gaming graphics cards might be unveiled this year

  • Nvidia is preparing RTX 50 SUPER cards for winter 2025 instead of the originally planned spring 2026
  • All models will receive a massive 50% increase in VRAM capacity with up to 24GB GDDR7 memory
  • RTX 5070 SUPER will also gain more CUDA cores compared to the standard version

Nvidia seems to be preparing a surprise for this year’s holiday season. According to information from TweakTown, GeForce RTX 50 SUPER graphics cards could arrive as early as Q4 2025, significantly earlier than originally expected. The RTX 50 series refresh could thus be available during the winter holidays, which would represent the fastest launch of SUPER variants in Nvidia’s history.

Winter Release Instead of CES 2026

Previous speculation anticipated the unveiling of RTX 50 SUPER cards at CES 2026 in January next year, similar to the RTX 40 SUPER series. However, new information suggests that Nvidia plans to leverage the holiday shopping season and launch the cards this autumn or winter.

If this information is confirmed, it would be a record-fast launch of a SUPER refresh – RTX 50 cards were only introduced this spring, so there would be less than a year between the base models and the SUPER variants. Until now, Nvidia typically waited 12–15 months before releasing improved versions.

Massive VRAM Increase as the Main Draw

The biggest draw of RTX 50 SUPER cards will be a 50% increase in memory capacity across all models. The RTX 5070 SUPER will get 18 GB of GDDR7 memory instead of the current 12GB, while the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER and RTX 5080 SUPER will feature 24GB of GDDR7 memory.

The increased memory capacity will also be accompanied by higher power consumption, suggesting that SUPER models will run at higher clock speeds than standard versions. The RTX 5070 SUPER is expected to have a power consumption of 275 W compared to 250 W for the base model, the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER 350 W, and the RTX 5080 SUPER even 415 W.

The only model that will receive more computational units besides memory will be the RTX 5070 SUPER, reportedly with 6,400 CUDA cores compared to 6,144 in the base version. Other cards will retain the same number of CUDA cores as their standard counterparts.

Estimated Specifications of RTX 50 SUPER Cards

ModelNumber of CUDA CoresVRAMMemory BusPower Consumption (TGP)
RTX 5070 SUPER6 40018GB GDDR7192-bit275W
RTX 50706 14412GB GDDR7192-bit250W
RTX 5070 Ti SUPER8 96024GB GDDR7256-bit350W
RTX 5070 Ti8 96016GB GDDR7256-bit300W
RTX 5080 SUPER10 75224GB GDDR7256-bit415W
RTX 508010 75216GB GDDR7256-bit360W

The increased video memory capacity will be particularly beneficial for high-resolution gaming, artificial intelligence processing, and using ray tracing in demanding titles.

It is not yet clear how much the new products will cost. Nvidia typically keeps the prices of SUPER models at the level of standard versions at the time of their launch, which could mean interesting performance-to-price ratios if current models drop in price before winter.

Are you waiting for RTX 50 SUPER cards, or will you get one of the current versions?
