Braised beef or ribs, which you usually watch over for two hours, Xiaomi wants to cook in a quarter of an hour. The new Xiaomi pressure cooker, named Mijia Smart Pressure Cooker 2 Pro, relies on powerful induction heating, two inner pots, and mobile control. We wrote about the previous Xiaomi electric pressure cooker before, but this model goes significantly higher in both power and pressure.

Beef in 15 minutes, claims Xiaomi

At the heart of the new product is 2200 W induction heating. While conventional electric pots heat with a heating element around 1000 W, induction, according to Xiaomi, heats the pot evenly and faster. Hand in hand with this comes higher pressure: 112 kPa maintains an internal temperature of up to 120 °C, so the meat cooks noticeably faster, according to the manufacturer. The manufacturer states that the pot can reportedly cook braised beef or ribs in about 15 minutes, which is about 40% faster than older pots with 70 kPa.

You can cook in two different inner pots. The 304 stainless steel pot is designed for stewing, soups, and cooking with an open lid, while the fluorine-free ceramic-coated pot is suitable for rice, porridges, or desserts. The pair also has a practical purpose – flavors from one dish are not transferred to another. The 5-liter volume, according to Xiaomi, is enough for up to 20 bowls of rice or 2.5 kilograms of beef at once, so it will suffice even for a larger family.

Smart features are a given

You have ten programs ready, including an open-lid mode, and you can control the pot remotely. Through the Mijia app and the Xiaomi HyperOS smart home system, you can schedule cooking up to 24 hours in advance, start one of the hundreds of recipes from the cloud, or use the XiaoAI voice assistant. On the body, you’ll find a tempered glass control panel with a display.

The pressure in the pot commands respect, so the manufacturer focuses on safety. Automatic cooled ventilation allows the lid to be opened in just 88 seconds, so you don’t have to wait for the overpressure to drop on its own. Inside, there are also 18 safety features against overpressure and temperature exceedance. The brand provides a three-year warranty on the main unit.

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Pressure Cooker 2 Pro is currently sold only in China, for 899 yuan – approximately 2,800 Czech crowns. It went on sale there last month. Xiaomi has not yet stated if or when it will appear in Europe or the Czech Republic, and the path to our market for Mijia kitchen appliances is often uncertain.
