Finding a reliable internet connection at a cottage or in places without cable infrastructure can be a challenge. TP-Link has a solution in the form of the Archer NX500 5G router, which just needs a SIM card to instantly create a WiFi network. It is currently available on Alza with a 30% discount for 4,899 CZK, which is an interesting opportunity for those who need fast internet beyond the reach of a fixed connection.

5G speed without cables

The Archer NX500 utilizes 5G and LTE networks with theoretical download speeds of up to 4.67 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1.25 Gbps. In practice, of course, it depends on your operator’s network coverage and load, but even so, these parameters can easily handle 4K video streaming or video conferences. The router is also backward compatible with 4G LTE networks, so it works even in areas without 5G coverage.

Just insert a nano SIM card and the router will start working immediately without complicated setup. This will be especially appreciated by those who need to quickly set up internet in a holiday home, temporary office, or even a mobile shop.

WiFi 6 for the whole household

The router creates a dual-band WiFi 6 network with speeds of 2,402 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and 574 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band. Thanks to ten internal antennas, it should cover larger areas. The manufacturer states the possibility of connecting more than 30 devices simultaneously, which is sufficient for a typical household or a small office.

The Archer NX500 supports EasyMesh technology, so you can combine it with other compatible routers or extenders to create a mesh network with a single WiFi name. Devices then automatically connect to the strongest signal without the need for manual switching.

Wired backup connection

The router features one gigabit LAN/WAN port and two LAN ports. This allows it to function as a classic WiFi router connected to cable internet, fiber optics, or a DSL modem. If both options are available, the 5G connection can serve as a backup in case of a fixed line outage.

Setup and management are done via the web interface or the TP-Link Tether mobile app for both Android and iOS. The app allows you to set up parental controls, manage connected devices, or create a guest network. Automatic firmware updates ensure that the router is always running the latest version.

Price and who it’s suitable for

With the current price of 4,899 CZK (after entering the code ALZADNY30), it is an interesting choice for owners of cottages and chalets, operators of temporary establishments, or anyone who needs internet in places without cable infrastructure. Its compact dimensions of 9.9 × 9.9 × 19 cm allow for easy placement.

Conversely, for a typical household with an available fixed connection, a 5G router doesn’t make much sense – a classic WiFi router will be cheaper and offer a more stable connection. It’s also important to consider that you’ll need a data SIM card with a sufficient data volume for the router, which represents an additional monthly cost.

Would you use a 5G router at your cottage or for work?
