What is RGB Mini LED and why is it being talked about

Classic Mini LED backlighting uses white diodes, and color is formed by a layer of filters in front of the panel – some light is lost in the process, and colors are not as accurate. RGB Mini LED takes a different approach: the backlighting consists of separate red, green, and blue diodes, which create color directly at the source. The result is significantly more accurate color reproduction, higher contrast, and finer details, as nothing is lost in the filters.

Practically, this means the TV can use its 3,500 nits brightness for more vibrant colors, not just greater luminosity. Together with an anti-reflective surface, this is a combination that stands up even in a sunlit living room. It features Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, and HLG, as well as local dimming for deeper blacks in night scenes.

Gamers will find three HDMI 2.1 ports, a 120 Hz panel, and 170 Hz in gaming mode – a value that few TVs offer today. Additionally, there’s VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Ideal for PlayStation 5 certification. Sound is handled by a built-in subwoofer with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and there’s even a USB-C port, which is still a rarity on TVs.

Details worth noting

Two things in the specifications are surprising. Firstly, the 8-bit color depth – for a TV with such advanced backlighting, one would expect 10 bits, which would affect the smoothness of color gradients. Secondly, among HDR formats, basic HDR10 is missing, even though newer HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ are present; you won’t notice it with the vast majority of content, but it’s a strange omission.

Among voice assistants, the TV supports only Amazon Alexa, so Google Home owners are out of luck. And expect 200 kWh consumption per thousand hours in HDR (class G) – bright panels simply consume more.

A nice detail, on the other hand, is the remote control with solar charging – it charges with ambient room light, so you’ll never have to buy batteries for it again.
