A few days ago, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Turbo 5 Max with a monstrous 9,000mAh battery in China. Now, thanks to leaker PaperKing13, we learn what form the phone will take for global markets – and not everyone will be thrilled.

Battery will shrink, the reason is surprising

According to leaked information, the POCO X8 Pro Max will get an 8,500mAh capacity instead of the original 9,000mAh. The 500 mAh difference is not terrible, however. The smaller battery capacity in the global version is likely related to stricter certification and safety requirements in Europe and other regions.

The good news is that 100W charging remains intact. A full charge should therefore take about an hour, which is a solid result for such a large battery.

What else we know about the specifications

The POCO X8 Pro Max will likely be the first globally available phone with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. This is a tuned version of last year’s Dimensity 9400 with higher clock speeds. The display is expected to be a 6.83″ 2K AMOLED with brightness up to 3,500 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. Beneath it lies an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

The camera setup includes a 50Mpx main sensor with optical stabilization and an 8Mpx ultrawide. The system will run on HyperOS 3. The phone should also offer 27W reverse charging, so you can charge other devices from it.

When exactly the POCO X8 Pro Max will arrive in Europe and at what price, we do not yet know. If Xiaomi maintains its pricing strategy from China, it could start at around 10,000 CZK.
