While smart curtains are only slowly gaining traction here, in China, Xiaomi is already introducing the third generation of its premium solution. The new Mijia Smart Curtain 3 Pro builds on the foundations of its 2024 predecessor but adds a crucial new feature – the ability to control each half of the curtain separately. This is useful, for example, when you want to let in some light but also maintain privacy from curious neighbors.

Two motors, two curtain halves

At the heart of the product are two DC motors, each with a torque of 1.2 Nm. Together, they can handle curtains weighing up to 60 kg, which should be more than enough for heavy blackout fabrics. Xiaomi promises quiet operation – when both motors are running, the noise level should not exceed 30 dB, and with a single motor, it’s even just 26 dB.

The quiet operation is contributed by a double-layer aluminum track combined with rubber-coated wheels. The control unit itself measures 59 × 93 × 111 mm and, thanks to its compact design, should be relatively inconspicuous.

Five ways to control

The Mijia Smart Curtain 3 Pro offers several ways to control the curtains. Through the Mi Home app, you can set precise open and close positions, movement speed in the range of 10–100 %, or time schedules. Thanks to the integrated Wi-Fi module, remote control works even when you’re away from home.

The system also supports voice commands via HyperOS Connect, a classic remote control, and manual operation – simply pull the curtain gently, and the motor will start in the desired direction. This is especially practical for visitors who may not have a phone with the app handy.

Light wake-up mode

An interesting feature is the gradual wake-up mode, which opens the curtains in several phases around the set alarm time. Instead of a sudden opening, light gradually enters the room, simulating a natural sunrise. In combination with other Xiaomi smart products, automated scenarios can be set – for example, a movie mode that closes the curtains and dims the lights.

Price and availability

Xiaomi launched crowdfunding on the Chinese Youpin platform on April 8th with a price of 799 yuan (approximately 2,400 CZK). After the campaign ends, the price is expected to increase to 999 yuan (about 3,000 CZK). It is rather unlikely that this new product will reach Europe. While Xiaomi imports more and more home products to us, smart curtains have so far remained exclusive to the Chinese market.

Would you use the option to control each half of the curtain separately?
