Earlier this year, Tesla showcased footage demonstrating how its Tesla Model 3s and Tesla Model Y electric vehicles can drive themselves from the factory to the loading ramp, from where human workers transport them to their new owners. Since then, however, the car manufacturer led by controversial entrepreneur Elon Musk has been taking things to an even higher level. A few days ago, it published a video capturing the car’s journey from the factory to the customer without human intervention.

According to Tesla, this is the world’s first ever autonomous car delivery to a consumer. The company stated on the X platform that the vehicle completed the entire journey from the Texas Gigafactory to the customer’s home – who lived approximately 30 minutes from the factory – entirely by itself.

As the company detailed in the over 3-minute video, the Model Y electric car had to navigate parking lots, highways, and city streets before successfully arriving at the designated location. The new owner was waiting there along with Tesla employees.

Whether and how Tesla will continue in this direction was not specified. Similarly, details about any hardware or software modifications made before the test (if any) are unknown. It is also unclear how the brand’s vehicles would handle longer journeys to customers. Nevertheless, it is fascinating to observe the direction in which methods and technologies in the electric vehicle market are moving.

What do you think about Tesla’s achievements?
