Apple Watch SE used to be a compromise choice – cheaper, but significantly lagging behind Series models in performance and features. With the SE 3 generation, that has ended, and now it’s also available on Mall.cz via Allegro for 4,504 CZK with Smart! – a price that makes this generation the most interesting Apple Watch in terms of price/performance in the last few years.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you have an iPhone and are looking for your first smartwatch or upgrading from an older one.
⚠️ Consider if you want ECG, SpO2, or the brightest display – only the higher Series has these features.
💡 For 4,504 CZK, you essentially get 90% of Watch Series 10 features for half its price.

How to get the price of 4,504 CZK

The lowest price applies to users with an active Allegro Smart! subscription, which costs 59 CZK per month or 299 CZK per year. Without Smart!, you’ll pay 4,741 CZK, which is still significantly less than anywhere else. If you want to grab the maximum discount, you can activate Smart!, make your purchase, and then immediately cancel the subscription in your account settings – it will remain active until the end of the paid period. For a one-time use with this discount, the 59 CZK will pay for itself four times over in the watch price.

Why the SE 3 is such a leap

Until now, Apple kept the SE series noticeably below the premium Series – slower chip, smaller storage, no Always-On display. The SE 3 received the Apple S10 chip, the same as the Watch Series 10, and that’s a difference you’ll notice in every animation and every swipe. The Always-On Retina display finally arrived, so you can see the time and watch face without raising your wrist. Storage jumped from 32 to 64 GB – more space for offline music and podcasts without needing to carry your iPhone on a run.

In terms of health, a wrist temperature sensor was added, allowing Apple Watch to better track sleep and, for women, enable retrospective ovulation estimation. Sleep apnea detection is another new feature previously found only in more expensive models. Support for Double Tap gestures (tapping thumb and index finger to answer a call or pause music) and Wrist Flick (flicking the wrist to dismiss a notification) has returned. The glass is now up to 4× more crack-resistant. Fast charging gets the watch from 0 to 80% in about 45 minutes.

What the Series has, but the SE 3 doesn’t

The higher-end Watch Series has a few extra features worth mentioning. You won’t find ECG and blood oxygen level measurement (SpO2) on the SE 3 – for a regular user without cardiac issues, this isn’t crucial, but if you monitor your heart rate during workouts or are interested in more advanced health metrics, look into the Series. The Series display is brighter (up to 2000 nits vs. 1000 nits on the SE 3) and the casing is made of more expensive materials (titanium on Ultra, aluminum on SE 3 is fine, of course, but you’ll notice a bump against a table corner more).

Battery life remained at 18 hours – still the “charge every night” rule. For all-day use with the Always-On display, it’s plenty, but not for a weekend trip to a cabin without a charger. For full functionality, you need an iPhone – Apple Watch cannot be paired with Android, so if you don’t have one or plan to migrate to Android, be aware.

Do you think the Apple Watch SE 3 is worth it, or would you prefer the Series for double the price?
