The Czech map service Mapy.com (formerly Mapy.cz) is introducing several interesting new features that will please both mountain tourists and lovers of good food or quality services. The most significant additions are the new **HorizontAR** function, which uses augmented reality to help identify mountain peaks in the distance, and the **return of the popular green stickers** marking places with the best ratings.

HorizontAR: Recognizing mountains right before your eyes

Undoubtedly, the most interesting new feature in the Mapy.com application is the **HorizontAR** function, which is exclusively for Mapy.com Premium subscribers. This feature uses augmented reality and allows users to see the **names and altitudes of peaks directly on the phone’s display when looking at the landscape**.

The principle of operation is simple – just point the phone’s camera towards the horizon, and the application will recognize visible peaks. For the first use, it is necessary to manually align the guide line with the horizon (calibration can be done by sliding with one finger or rotating and zooming with two fingers). This setting is saved for future use.

The display will then show the **names and altitudes of the individual peaks** you are currently seeing. At the bottom of the screen, you will also find a transparent panel with cardinal directions for better orientation. You can use the function in both portrait and landscape mode, and it works worldwide – **however, you need an active internet connection**.

More detailed mountain display in Switzerland and Slovenia

Tourists planning a trip to **Switzerland or Slovenia** will certainly appreciate another new feature – improved display of rock formations and surfaces in these two countries. Mapy.com now offers **more detailed rock rendering, more accurate contour lines, and more sophisticated terrain shading**.

Green stickers reveal where to go for a great experience

**Green stickers from Mapy.com** have started appearing again across the Czech Republic, marking businesses, services, and places with above-average user ratings. This year, Mapy.com will send out **over 18 thousand** of them, making it easier for customers to spot quality businesses from a distance.

Traditionally, the best-rated categories include **cafes and bakeries**, but this year the list also features less common places such as **maternity hospitals** or **traditional mills**.

Where to go for great coffee outside big cities

If you enjoy discovering lesser-known places, Mapy.com recommends, for example, **Kafe Veranda** in the mountain village of Kořenov in the Liberec Region. Although this village has fewer than a thousand inhabitants, the local cafe has earned an excellent rating thanks to delicious cakes and breathtaking views of the surroundings.

In nearby Velké Hamry, the **Hamrovská Craft Bakery** is worth visiting, where according to reviews, they offer excellent pastries with pear jam. And if you get hungry, just a few steps away you’ll find the restaurant **Starý Lázně** with an impressive rating of 4.9.

Unique environment and quality services across the Czech Republic

In Olomouc, the **Bistro&bar Konvikt** earned a green sticker, combining the atmosphere of a 17th-century Baroque Jesuit convent with modern gastronomy. In the Vysočina region, the family-run **Mlýn Oudoleň** stands out, milling wheat, rye, and spelt since 1913. The place is interesting not only for its freshly ground flour and quality pasta but also for its original, still functional equipment from the first half of the 20th century.

Wine with a seal of quality not only in Moravia

Mapy.com also helps navigate the maze of Moravian wineries. According to user reviews, you won’t go wrong, for example, at **Vinařství Matouškovi** from Perná or **Vinařství Laurent Šatov**. However, a wine cellar awarded with a green badge can also be found in Bohemia, specifically in the village of Jince in the Central Bohemian Region.

Interestingly, while users most often rate gastronomic establishments, this year green stickers also went to the **Cheb maternity hospital** or a Prague **dental hygienist**. This proves that people appreciate quality even in the areas of healthcare and other services.

What do you think about the new features in Mapy.com?
