Combined with 8 GB of RAM, it provides sufficient performance even for graphically demanding games like Batman: Arkham Shadow or Metro Awakening. The only compromise is the Fresnel lenses instead of the more advanced pancake lenses found in the more expensive Quest 3 model.

Battery life is surprisingly better than the more expensive model – Meta states up to 2.5 hours on a single charge, while Quest 3 lasts approximately 2.2 hours. This is primarily due to the lower display resolution, which consumes less power.

Meta Quest 3S is not just a headset for watching movies or browsing apps – it’s also a gaming system. The panel features a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz in gaming mode, which you’ll appreciate when playing action games. Thanks to the included Touch controllers, you get precise and reliable control that works even with fast movements.

For connecting to a powerful PC, you can use a cable or a wireless connection via Wi-Fi 6E. Compromises and limitations

The biggest weakness of Meta Quest 3S compared to Quest 3 are the built-in Fresnel lenses. Unlike the almost perfectly clear pancake lenses of Quest 3, the Fresnel lenses of Quest 3S have only a small sweet spot (i.e., the central area where the image is perfectly sharp). Sharpness significantly decreases towards the edges.

Another issue is the interpupillary distance adjustment. Quest 3S offers only three fixed settings (58, 63, and 68 millimeters). To change them, you must reach into the headset and move the lenses with your fingers. If you have a different interpupillary distance, it may be difficult to align the small sweet spot of the Fresnel lenses with your pupils.
