Monthly or annual? O2 launched new Datamania, now with a special offer price

Four days ago, we reported that operator O2 quietly increased the data limit of its annual Datamania package from 1,000 GB to 1,200 GB while maintaining the price. Now, an official press release has arrived, bringing several interesting new features that were not originally known.

Monthly Subscription as an Alternative

The main novelty is that Datamania 1,200 GB now also exists in a monthly variant. Instead of a one-time annual payment, you can subscribe to 100 GB of data each month for 349 CZK (on promotion until November 13), or 449 CZK standardly.

However, the annual variant is still more advantageous. If you pay 2,988 CZK at once (on promotion, standardly 3,499 CZK), you get all 1,200 GB immediately, and with an average monthly consumption of 100 GB, it works out to 249 CZK per month. That’s 100 CZK less than the monthly variant on promotion and 200 CZK less than the standard monthly price.

How Much Will You Save?

If you wanted to divide 1,200 GB evenly into 12 months of 100 GB each, you would pay 4,188 CZK annually (on promotion) or 5,388 CZK (standardly) for the monthly variant. Compared to the annual payment of 2,988 CZK (on promotion), you save 1,200 CZK.

The annual variant makes sense if you use data regularly – for example, in a tablet, backup phone, or LTE router. The monthly subscription, on the other hand, will be appreciated by those who have a seasonal need for data.

Calls for an Additional 15 CZK per Day

Another new feature is the option of unlimited calls to all networks for 15 CZK per day. This is useful if you occasionally need to use a purely data tariff for calling. It’s not an elegant solution (you only pay for the days you call), but at least there’s an option.

EU roaming is still not part of the tariff, so if you travel abroad, you must purchase a special package. This is a significant disadvantage compared to classic subscription tariffs.

Promotion Valid Only Until November 13

Both promotional prices are valid until November 13, 2025 and apply only to newly activated services. It is important that you activate the SIM card by December 31, 2025, otherwise the promotional price will be forfeited.

Ordering works the same as with other Datamania tariffs. You can choose between a classic SIM card delivered free to your mailbox or an eSIM, which you will receive by email within a few minutes. Activation is done in the Moje O2 application, where you set up monthly card payments or make a one-time annual payment.

Who Is It For?

Datamania 1,200 GB is still a purely data tariff without roaming. It is suitable as a secondary SIM for a tablet, backup phone, USB modem, or LTE router for a cottage. If you are looking for a full-fledged tariff with calls and roaming, this is not it.

But if you need a lot of data in the Czech Republic and don’t want to deal with monthly payments, the annual variant for 2,988 CZK is a solid offer. Data runs on the 5G Max network, so speed is only limited by O2 coverage in your area.
