More capable AI assistant Google Gemini is finally coming to Wear OS watches. It can be useful for everyone Home News Google is launching Gemini for watches with Wear OS 4 and newer The feature will be available on Pixel, Samsung, OnePlus, and Xiaomi models The new AI assistant offers natural voice control and integration with apps Sdílejte: Adam Kurfürst Published: 10. 7. 2025 12:30 Google today officially announced that it is starting the gradual rollout of Gemini artificial intelligence to smartwatches running **Wear OS**. The tech giant announced this feature back in May of this year and is now finally making it available to users. Supported models include **Pixel Watch as well as watches from Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi**, and **Wear OS version 4 or newer** is required for it to function. Easy activation and natural communication Launching Gemini on your watch is very simple (and de facto the same as on an Android smartphone). Just use the voice command **”Hey Google”** (this still doesn’t work in Czech), hold the side button on the case, or simply tap the **Gemini app icon** directly on the watch face. The biggest advantage of the new service is its ability to **understand natural language** and provide quick, concise answers directly from your wrist. Google emphasizes that the new assistant uses the **same advanced AI models** as the mobile phone version, which means a consistent experience across devices. Compared to the previous Assistant, Gemini should better understand the context of questions and provide more relevant answers. Practical use in everyday life Typical examples of use include situations where your hands are full and you need quick advice – for example, you can ask **”How long and at what temperature should I bake chopped vegetables?”** or before going out, find out **”Will I need an umbrella today?”.** Google Gemini can also help with navigation when you ask for the address of a cafe someone mentioned in an email. Another interesting feature is the ability to **remember important information**. For example, just say “Remember that I’m using locker number 43” or “Remember that I parked on floor 4, spot 27” and later ask for this information. You can use this, for example, at the gym or a shopping center. The AI can also **set reminders** for later tasks. Integration with popular apps As stated in the official blog post, Gemini on Wear OS watches can work with various **Google services like Gmail and Calendar**. You can have the latest email from a specific person summarized, add a series of events to your calendar, or have the address of a meeting searched for with subsequent navigation. **YouTube Music app** is also supported, where you can voice request a playlist, for example, for running at a certain pace. More capable AI assistant Google Gemini is finally coming to Wear OS watches. It can be useful for everyone Adam Kurfürst News Adam Kurfürst News To use these features, you need to **enable the relevant integrations in the Gemini app settings** on your paired phone and grant the necessary permissions. Google emphasizes that watches can now handle complex tasks that previously required multiple steps on the phone. Availability and future expansion Google states that Gemini will be gradually rolled out to supported watches with **Wear OS 4 and newer** **”over the coming weeks”**. What I didn’t initially expect is that watches updated to **Wear OS 6** will also have support for integrating Gemini with the watch manufacturer’s own apps. Launch alongside Samsung Galaxy Watch8 The announcement about the expansion of Gemini artificial intelligence to Wear OS smartwatches came together with the introduction of the new Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series. These boast a thinner design, a significantly brighter display, more advanced health features, and higher performance. In the Czech Republic, they start at 6 999 Kč as part of a pre-order promotion.
