Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ will go after the new Xiaomi 17T, does it have what it takes?

While the official unveiling of the new Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ smartphone is still a few days away, the manufacturer has already revealed the complete specifications of its new device. To our own surprise, the new device’s features are strikingly similar to the recently introduced and very successful Xiaomi 17T. However, certain, and for many users crucial, differences can be found.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ features officially

Motorola’s new device clearly indicates with its features that it aims to be among the top of the upper mid-range class. Firstly, there’s a very decent Mediatek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset supported by 12 GB of RAM and fast 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ will also definitely impress with its 6.8″ FullHD+ AMOLED display, or rather, its brightness of up to 5,200 nits. The display also supports HDR10+ and has an integrated fingerprint reader – unfortunately, the manufacturer has not yet specified the type of reader.

On the back, there is a trio of 50MP cameras. The primary one uses a Sony Lytia 710 sensor with a size of 1/1.56″. Another camera features a periscopic lens with 3.5x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. The trio is completed by an ultrawide camera, which, in addition to the mentioned 50 MP resolution, also offers autofocus. The fourth and final 50MP camera with autofocus is found in the display punch-hole.

The new Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ will offer a Si/C battery with a solid capacity of 6,500 mAh. The phone supports 90W wired and 15W wireless charging. If your phone often experiences accidents, you might be interested in its IP68/69 resistance and MIL-STD 810H certification. The phone will launch with Android 16, and the manufacturer promises 3 years of system updates and 5 years of security updates. Unfortunately, we do not yet know the price or availability of the new device.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ or Xiaomi 17T?

And now, let’s briefly look at a comparison with the aforementioned Xiaomi 17T, which has just arrived on our market. Perhaps the most significant difference here is the display, specifically its size. Here, Xiaomi offers a slightly more compact 6.59″ panel. In terms of quality, Xiaomi impresses with a higher 1.5k resolution, but lower brightness – a maximum of 3,200 nits. Performance is identical in both cases.

Smaller differences exist in the cameras. The primary cameras are practically identical – they only rely on different sensor manufacturers, and the periscopic camera on the Xiaomi offers five times zoom. Conversely, for the ultrawide and selfie cameras, the 17T falls short with 12MP and 32MP sensors, respectively, without autofocus. Further comparison of both models can be found in the table below.
