Motorola’s mid-range phones are getting an interesting price injection. The Moto G86 5G model is now selling for 4,599 CZK, which represents a drop of almost three thousand from the original price of 7,490 CZK. For this amount, you get a smartphone with a really bright display, excellent durability, a solid chip, and last but not least, a successful design.

Display with extreme brightness

Motorola opted for a 6.67-inch P-OLED panel with a resolution of 2712 × 1220 pixels, achieving a pixel density of 446 PPI. The most impressive parameter is the maximum brightness of up to 4,500 nits, which ensures content remains perfectly readable even in bright sunlight. The screen supports an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ standard, and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. For protection, it uses durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Durability worthy of outdoor phones

Although the Moto G86 looks like a regular elegant smartphone, it boasts IP68 and IP69 certification against water and dust. Furthermore, the phone meets the military standard MIL-STD 810H, which guarantees resistance to shocks, vibrations, and extreme temperatures. The back is covered with a pleasant vegan leather material in unique Pantone colors, giving the phone a premium look and grip.

Powerful chipset and solid memory capacity

Performance is handled by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor manufactured with 4nm technology. It is complemented by 8 GB of RAM, which can be expanded by an additional up to 16 GB of virtual RAM. Internal storage offers 256 GB of space with the option to expand by up to 1 TB using a microSD card. The phone runs on the latest Android 15 with Motorola’s clean interface.

Triple camera setup with image stabilization

The main 50Mpx camera uses a Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with an aperture of f/1.88 and optical image stabilization (OIS). It is complemented by an 8Mpx ultrawide-angle lens with a 118° field of view, which also serves as a macro camera. On the front, there is a 32Mpx selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. All cameras are capable of recording video in 4K at 30 FPS.

5,200mAh battery and modern connectivity

The phone is powered by a 5,200mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging, which, according to the manufacturer, lasts a full day of intensive use. It includes support for 5G networks, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC for contactless payments. The Moto G86 offers a combination of physical nanoSIM and eSIM, allowing you to use two phone numbers simultaneously. A fast fingerprint reader is hidden in the display.

Are there any drawbacks to the phone?

Of course, we cannot expect top-notch features from a smartphone at this price, but the Motorola Moto G86 5G objectively offers a truly interesting combination of hardware elements that make it an attractive choice for anyone who doesn’t want to spend more than 7 thousand on a phone. It looks good, uses a display with excellent brightness, the chipset is no slouch, and with IP68 and IP69 certifications, it’s not afraid of water.

Personally, I’m not exactly a fan of 30W charging, but if you only rarely charge your phone during the day, then this drawback won’t limit you. The Sony LYTIA 600 sensor has a size of only 1/1.953″ inch, which isn’t much – you’ll likely feel this when taking photos in low light conditions.

However, for its price, the Motorola Moto G86 5G is overall a very well-equipped phone that will certainly find many fans thanks to its balance. But if these specifications are still not enough for you, we recommend looking at the OnePlus Nord CE 5, which for an extra thousand offers a more powerful chipset or significantly faster charging.
