In September, TP-Link launched the Tapo D205 smart video doorbell in the Czech Republic with a recommended price of 1,899 CZK. Now, just one month after its release, you can purchase it at Alza as part of a Black Friday promotion for only 1,499 CZK, which represents a 21 percent discount. The doorbell primarily stands out with its 2K resolution, intelligent person detection, and long battery life.

2K Resolution Image with Wide Field of View

The Tapo D205 features a camera with a resolution of 2304 × 1296 pixels, capturing a detailed image of visitors at your door. Thanks to its ultra-wide 160-degree viewing angle, it can cover the entire person from head to toe without blind spots. Image quality is ensured by 3DNR noise reduction technology and WDR, which balances contrast in challenging lighting conditions.

For night operation, the doorbell is equipped with two infrared LED diodes with a range of up to 7.6 meters. It also features 10x digital zoom for detailed close-ups. During installation, you can use the included wedge for optimal camera angle adjustment.

AI Detection Without Monthly Fees

A major draw is the intelligent AI person detection, which works completely without subscription or additional fees. The PIR sensor, combined with artificial intelligence, recognizes people and filters out irrelevant events such as animal movement or tree branches. In the Tapo app, you can set up custom activity zones from which you want to receive notifications.

When someone rings, you can answer the call directly in the app as easily as a regular phone call. The doorbell offers two-way real-time communication and a quick replies feature with pre-recorded messages for situations when you cannot respond in person.

The Tapo D205 includes an integrated 5,200 mAh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, lasts up to 180 days on a single charge. Charging takes place via a modern USB-C connector, and you can also charge the doorbell directly on-site using a power bank or an outdoor socket. For disassembly, simply loosen one screw and remove the doorbell from its bracket.

For those who want maintenance-free operation, TP-Link offers compatibility with Tapo A200, A201, and A202 solar panels, which are sold separately. The doorbell is IP54 certified for dust and rain resistance and can withstand temperatures from -20 °C to 45 °C.

Local Storage and Smart Home Integration

You can store recordings locally on a microSD card with a capacity of up to 512 GB or use the Tapo Care cloud service, which is available for an additional fee. All data is secured with 128-bit AES encryption.

The doorbell works with the Tapo Hub (models H100, H110, H200, and H500), which functions as a home chime. It also supports voice assistants Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. Installation can be done using the included 3M adhesive or traditional screws.
