Samsung is considered one of the most diligent manufacturers in terms of both duration and speed. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because its update cycle for One UI 7 and Android 15 didn’t go ideally, users are full of expectations related to the One UI 8 update. After the release of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 directly with Android 16 and One UI 8, news comes that might slightly disappoint impatient fans of the flagship Galaxy S series.

Samsung’s new update strategy will prioritize “foldables”

According to respected leaker Ice Universe, the situation with One UI 8 will not be unique in the future. From now on, when a new version of the Android operating system or a major version of the One UI graphical overlay arrives, models with a flexible display from the Galaxy Z series should be prioritized. However, this does not necessarily have to be bad news for users of the flagship Galaxy S series. While they will have to wait a little longer for the update, a more refined version of the new software should arrive for them.

While the Galaxy Z series will be the first to receive the new update, the Galaxy S series should receive a better optimized and feature-rich version of One UI with the new Android version. In practice, therefore, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 models with One UI 8 should be followed by the Galaxy S25 series, but already with One UI 8.5. This is how Samsung’s new update strategy should work in the future.

The current procedure for beta versions for the Galaxy S25 series can also be taken as indirect confirmation of these reports. More than a month after the third beta of the One UI 8 update, the planned arrival of the fourth beta was announced on the official Korean forum. Users involved in the beta program are satisfied with the third beta and are not reporting bugs or stability issues.

How do you like Samsung’s new update strategy? Is it a good step?
