New Xiaomi heater with graphene starts heating in three seconds. It costs only about a thousand CZK in conversion

The heating season is approaching, and with it, times when radiators are not yet fully heating, but it’s already unpleasantly cold in the study or bathroom. The new Xiaomi Mijia Graphene Heater Pro, which the manufacturer has now sent to crowdfunding in China, is aimed precisely at quick supplementary heating. Warm air is supposed to start flowing from the heater within three seconds of switching it on, and you can direct it, for example, towards your desk.

It is supposed to heat a room by seven degrees in ten minutes

Graphene in the name sounds modern, but the heat itself is produced by a 31-centimeter long ceramic PTC element, which is also used in many common fan heaters. According to Xiaomi, graphene is only supposed to distribute heat faster and is supplemented by far-infrared radiation. The maximum power input is 2,200 W, and compared to the previous Mijia heater, the new product is supposed to heat a room 24% faster.

In practice, this means that a room will heat up by seven degrees in ten minutes. Xiaomi recommends the heater for rooms with an area of 15 to 27 m², but it is supposed to perform best in smaller rooms around 15 m². These are manufacturer’s data, which we cannot independently verify. Also, do not forget about consumption: at full power, the device consumes 2.2 kWh per hour, so it is more suitable for supplementary heating than for all-day heating.

The air is driven by an aluminum cross-flow fan, which, according to the manufacturer, delivers heat up to a distance of two meters, where it is supposed to be 12 °C warmer. The heater can also rotate from side to side within an 80° range.

More practical, however, is the manual tilting of the air outlet up and down within a 120° range. This way, you can direct the airflow upwards towards the desk, straight towards your knees, or downwards towards your feet, which will be especially appreciated by those whose feet get cold during long hours of sitting at the computer.

How noisy is the new heater?

There are four modes to choose from: strong, silent, temperature maintenance, and fan-only without heating. The thermostat can maintain a temperature between 22 and 28 °C. In silent mode, Xiaomi measured a noise level of 45.6 dB, while the previous model had 50 dB. A difference of over four decibels is usually noticeable, but the heater will still not be completely silent.

Mobile app connectivity is not missing

The heater connects to the Xiaomi Home app and integrates into the Xiaomi HyperOS Connect ecosystem. From your mobile, you can turn it on, set the target temperature or timer, and incorporate it into automations. The manufacturer gives an example of connecting it to a smart lock, which will start the heating as soon as you unlock the door. Additionally, a separate sensor, such as the new Xiaomi thermometer with CO2 measurement, which we wrote about a few days ago, can monitor the room temperature.

The control buttons are located on top, so you don’t have to bend down to reach them, and there’s a hidden handle in the body for carrying it between rooms. The stable base is designed to prevent tipping over, and should it still happen, the heater will automatically switch off. It will react similarly to overheating.

Price and Availability

Crowdfunding on the Chinese e-shop JD.com started today, and the Xiaomi Mijia Graphene Heater Pro will cost 349 yuan, which is approximately 1,100 CZK in conversion. About a month ago, the manufacturer also introduced a simpler Graphene Heater C in China with a rotary knob and 2,000 W power, which costs 179 yuan (about 570 CZK).

Xiaomi has not stated when or if the new product will come to Europe. However, heaters with the Xiaomi logo have already been sold in the Czech Republic – for example, the tower-shaped Xiaomi Smart Tower Heater Lite with a power input of 2,000 W, but its sale on Alza has since ended.
