Last November, the Czech brand Niceboy expanded its speaker lineup with its largest and most powerful model to date. The Niceboy Vulcan, with 80W of power and a robust design, targets those who want to provide sound for garden parties or nature trips. If it caught your eye but the price of almost three thousand deterred you, now you have the opportunity to save – you can currently get the speaker for 2,099 CZK with the code ALZADNY30.

Power and Sound for Larger Events

The Niceboy Vulcan features a total power output of 80 W and a two-way design with passive membranes for more pronounced bass. The frequency range of 100 Hz to 20 kHz corresponds to typical speakers in this price category – it will be sufficient for most music genres, although you won’t find the deepest bass below 100 Hz here.

Wireless connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 5.3 with support for SBC and AAC codecs and a range of up to 10 meters. If you prefer a wired connection, a 3.5mm jack, a USB port for playing from a flash drive, and a microSD card slot are available. The speaker also has an integrated FM radio, which will be appreciated by those who travel to places without mobile signal.

Battery Life and Durability

The integrated 7,500mAh battery, according to the manufacturer, lasts up to 12 hours of playback at 50% volume. Charging is done via USB-C, and the cable is included in the package. IPX5 certification means protection against splashing water – the speaker can handle rain or splashes by the pool, but unlike some competitors, you shouldn’t submerge it.

Other features include optional LED backlighting, which you can turn off if it bothers you. The True Wireless Stereo function allows you to connect two speakers for stereo sound. The speaker also automatically turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity, which saves battery.

Who is the Vulcan suitable for

The Niceboy Vulcan, weighing 3.25 kg and measuring 36 × 21 × 13 cm, is among the larger portable speakers. The practical handle makes it easy to carry, but it’s definitely not a pocket-sized speaker. It’s suitable for garden parties, barbecues, cottages, or workshops, where you’ll appreciate higher volume and larger dimensions are not an issue.

Conversely, if you are looking for a compact travel speaker or require support for advanced codecs like aptX, you will have to look elsewhere. The absence of a mobile app for equalizer settings might also bother more demanding users.

Alternative: Sencor RESONEX MAXI

If you’re hesitating whether to go for something more powerful, the Sencor RESONEX MAXI is also currently on sale for 2,399 CZK with the code ALZADNY20. For a price 300 CZK higher, it offers several interesting advantages, but also certain compromises.

The Sencor RESONEX MAXI wins with higher 100 W power, better IPX7 water resistance (can withstand short-term submersion), and a wider frequency range extending down to 20 Hz. Additionally, it functions as a power bank for charging phones and is paradoxically lighter.

The Niceboy Vulcan, on the other hand, offers longer battery life and support for stereo pairing of two units, while the Sencor only plays a mono signal when multiple speakers are connected. On Alza, the Vulcan currently has only 2 ratings compared to 119 reviews for the Sencor, so long-term user experiences are yet to accumulate.

Which of the speakers would you choose?
