Xiaomi has expanded its range of smart locks with the Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition model. The improved version of the original model from this year brings a dual camera system and advanced biometric features. In China, the new product sells for 2,899 yuan (approximately 8,500 CZK).

Palm vein pattern recognition straight out of a futuristic movie

The most interesting feature of the new lock is AI palm vein pattern recognition, which uses near-infrared light to detect unique vein patterns. Xiaomi states a false rejection rate of below 0.001% and an unlocking speed of less than one second. Simply place your palm on the reader, and the door will automatically open.

The lock also supports AI 3D facial recognition with BCTC Financial Security Test certification. The system works even in poor lighting conditions and includes 3D liveness detection, which prevents unlocking attempts using photos or videos. This technology provides a high level of security against unauthorized access.

Dual camera monitors the area in front of the door and packages on the ground

Xiaomi has equipped the lock with two cameras in the peephole. The main 3Mpx camera offers a 160° ultra-wide view, while the secondary 2Mpx camera covers a 128° angle. This solution allows you to see not only people standing at the door but also packages or items placed on the ground – a practical feature for checking delivered shipments.

The system supports dynamic night vision with five infrared LEDs. Depending on lighting conditions, it automatically switches between color night mode and infrared viewing. The built-in 24GHz millimeter-wave radar detects movement near the door and automatically records video when someone remains nearby.

Internal display and smart home connectivity

Inside the apartment, there is a 3.97-inch display for real-time video monitoring. The lock can be connected to Xiaomi TVs, smartphones, and displays. Through the Mi Home app, you can receive calls, monitor visitors, and unlock remotely. In total, the lock supports up to 12 unlocking methods, including NFC, Bluetooth, temporary passwords, and classic keys.

The NFC function works with compatible Xiaomi and Redmi phones, watches, and fitness trackers. The lock runs on a dual power system combining a 6,870mAh lithium battery and four AA batteries with a battery life of up to six months. Both the indoor and outdoor units include USB-C ports for emergency or continuous charging.

Security features and HyperOS integration

The lock features silent automatic locking, a Class C anti-pry cylinder, and door status sensors. The system alerts to tampering attempts, unsuccessful unlocking attempts, or if the door remains ajar.

The Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition works with HyperOS Connect for smart home automation. It supports features such as automatic lighting upon arrival, welcome voice messages, or special security settings for periods of absence.
