Nvidia is raising GeForce RTX graphics card prices again. For the third time this year, prices are reportedly increasing by up to 30 percent.

In January, card prices increased by ten to fifteen percent, and in May, only those interested in the most powerful RTX 5090 paid more. Now comes the third round, and this time it will affect virtually everyone – the entire GeForce lineup is getting a new price tag. According to Asian media, this is a jump of 20 to 30 percent.

The Taiwanese newspaper Economic Daily News was the first to report on the price increase. According to them, Nvidia has sent new price lists to partners, and they don’t just concern the chips themselves: the BenchLife server, which cites Wccftech, pointed out that manufacturers of graphics cards are seeing price increases for entire kits, meaning both GPU and memory combined. Higher prices are affecting both GDDR7 and older GDDR6 memory, so even cheaper models will not escape them.

Why are GeForce RTX prices increasing?

It’s all about memory. Samsung raised DRAM memory prices by about a fifth for the current quarter, and graphics card manufacturers felt it almost immediately. Higher-capacity chips hurt the most: a standard two-gigabyte GDDR7 module costs around 20 dollars, but a three-gigabyte one will cost 60 to 70 dollars. Half as much more memory therefore means roughly triple the price.

Graphics cards are not alone in this. The memory crisis is driving up prices for phones, laptops, and gaming consoles, and we wrote about it in detail at the beginning of July. According to current estimates, the end of price increases is not in sight until at least 2028.

MSI Chairman Hsu Hsiang described how unpredictable it is for manufacturers. For memory, he says they have barely a month’s visibility on supplies – the supplier only ever announces how many units will arrive next month and doesn’t state the price for the next period. He himself expects his company to sell 10 to 20 percent less consumer electronics this year, while the prices of individual units will go up.

Graphics Cards Reportedly Disappeared from Chinese E-shops

News of the new price list stirred distributors before it could be reflected on shelves. According to the Taiwanese newspaper, one of the major Chinese shopping platforms withdrew a number of mainstream graphics cards from its offerings starting July 23, as sellers preferred to hold inventory rather than release it at old prices. Where prices were adjusted, the jump is immediately visible: an RTX 5070 Ti with 16 GB of GDDR7 memory jumped from 9,299 to 10,700 yuan in a single day, roughly from 29,200 to 33,600 Czech crowns. Last November, the same card could be purchased for around 7,200 yuan, or 22,600 CZK.

How will the price increase affect the Czech Republic?

The new wave will arrive in Czech e-shops with a delay, as sellers will first sell off their current stock. However, anyone building a new computer should hurry with their purchase.

This is not a problem for a single brand. According to Taiwanese media, both AMD and Intel partners face the same risk that chip manufacturers will raise their price lists every quarter. Cheaper graphics cards are therefore not to be expected in the foreseeable future, and the same burden also falls on gaming consoles and pre-built computer systems.
