Xiaomi has launched preliminary reservations in China for the new TV S Pro 2027 series of televisions and, on this occasion, released the first information. There is little of it, but one piece is noteworthy: the upcoming models will feature RGB Mini LED panels, which is a significant leap forward compared to last year’s generation.

What the extra RGB means

The difference from standard Mini LED does not lie in the number of backlighting zones, but in the fact that individual diodes generate color directly, instead of creating it through a color filter. In practice, this means higher peak brightness, a wider color gamut, and more precise color control in individual parts of the image. The technology is not brand new – TCL, for example, has implemented it in its televisions this year, but it is only now appearing in more affordable models.

One hundred inches for the living room

The second confirmed novelty concerns dimensions. The series will feature a hundred-inch model, whereas last year the largest variant topped out at 98 inches. That difference looks tiny on paper, but from a marketing perspective, the round number is irresistible. It is also clear from the promotional image that the design is not fundamentally changing and the televisions will retain thin bezels around the screen.

When and if it will come to us at all

Reservations in China will run until September 1st, so the full unveiling is expected on September 2nd. Xiaomi usually sends its televisions to global markets after their Chinese premiere, but caution is advised here: with the previous generation, it turned out that global variants did not match the parameters of the Chinese models. So, before you start planning your living room wall, let’s wait to see what of the RGB Mini LED technology makes it into the European versions.

Would a hundred-inch TV fit in your living room if the price made sense?
