One UI 8 with Android 16 is coming to the popular affordable Samsung! You'll soon be able to download the update in Europe too

In recent weeks, Korean Samsung has been gradually rolling out the stable version of One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. Flagship models of the Galaxy S25 series, foldables Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, and last year’s bestsellers Galaxy A55 and A35 have already received the update. Now it’s the turn of an even more affordable model.

The Galaxy A26 today started receiving the stable One UI 8, even earlier than Samsung originally promised. According to the official schedule for Brazil and India, the update was supposed to arrive in October. However, it has been available in Vietnam since yesterday.

The new firmware version is designated A266BXXU4BYI2 and is currently being distributed only in Vietnam. However, Samsung usually rolls out updates gradually, so we should see it in other countries within a few days.

If you have a Galaxy A26 and want to check for availability manually, go to Settings → Software update → Download and install. If the update is ready, the system will notify you.

What does One UI 8 bring?

One UI 8 is Samsung’s biggest annual update, bringing a redesigned user interface and a host of new features compared to the previous generation, One UI 7. This primarily includes improvements in Galaxy AI artificial intelligence, new widgets, refined animations, and enhanced privacy controls.

Given that the Galaxy A26 belongs to the lower-end segment, it may not support some more advanced AI features – Samsung reserves some features only for more expensive models with more powerful hardware.
