Technology giant OpenAI today officially unveiled its latest and most advanced artificial intelligence model, GPT-5, which the community has eagerly awaited for several months. The new version introduces a revolutionary built-in reasoning feature that automatically recognizes when more time and effort are needed for a response. Thus, it will no longer be necessary to consider which model from the relatively extensive offering to choose for a given task.

In the Aider Polyglot test for code editing in various languages, GPT-5 achieves an 88% success rate, significantly surpassing the 79.6% of the previous o3 model. The new version also better handles front-end code generation and debugging larger repositories, saving developers hours of work.

For health-related queries, GPT-5 represents significant progress with a 67.2% score in the HealthBench benchmark, surpassing the 59.8% of the GPT-4o model. Unified System with Intelligent Switching

GPT-5 functions as a unified system combining an efficient model for quick responses with a model capable of deeper reasoning for solving more complex problems. Based on the type of conversation, task complexity, and your explicit instructions, it decides which approach to take. For example, if you write “think it through carefully”, the model automatically engages extended reasoning.

The model continuously learns from real-world signals, including when users switch between models, which responses they prefer, and measured accuracy. This way, the system constantly improves over time in recognizing when deeper analysis is needed.

Smarter Approach to Security

With GPT-5, OpenAI introduces a new concept of “safe completions” instead of simply rejecting potentially problematic queries. The model strives to provide the most useful answer within safety boundaries – it may respond partially or at a general level. Availability and Pricing Options

GPT-5 is available to all ChatGPT users as of today, including those with a free account. The model automatically replaces GPT-4o as the default choice for logged-in users. Plus and Team subscribers receive significantly higher usage limits, allowing for convenient daily use for more demanding tasks.

Subscribers to the Pro plan at 200 dollars per month have unlimited access to GPT-5, and additionally gain exclusive access to the GPT-5 Pro variant, which offers extended reasoning for even more complex tasks. Enterprise and Edu business customers will gain access within the next week with generously set limits for entire organizations.

Developers can immediately utilize GPT-5 via the OpenAI API at a price of 1.25 dollars per million input tokens and 10 dollars per million output tokens. GPT-5 mini (0.25/2.00 USD) and GPT-5 nano (0.05/0.40 USD) variants are also available for less demanding applications.

Although OpenAI does not directly specify geographical availability, the absence of regional restrictions suggests a global launch, including Europe and the Czech Republic. ChatGPT is standardly available in our territory, so access to GPT-5 should automatically be available to all existing users regardless of account type.
