The Philips Evnia 32M2N8900 is one of the best-rated 4K OLED monitors on the Czech market. Now it’s getting a successor. The new Evnia 32M2N8900X model builds on the same third-generation QD-OLED panel from Samsung but adds several improvements that address its predecessor’s weaknesses — primarily brightness and text readability.

20% Brighter and with Better Subpixels

The core remains the same: a 31.5-inch QD-OLED panel with a resolution of 3,840 × 2,160 pixels, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03 ms response time. Color space coverage is 99.5% DCI-P3 and 100% sRGB. These are numbers you know from its predecessor — and there’s no reason to change them.

What changes, however, is brightness. In SDR mode, the new model offers 300 nits across the entire panel, which is 20% more than the previous generation. In HDR mode, Philips states 515 nits at 10% APL and up to 1,000 nits peak at 3% APL. The monitor carries DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

The second significant new feature is the RGB Q-Stripe subpixel layout. This should improve text readability and the sharpness of fine details — precisely an area where classic QD-OLED panels with triangular subpixel arrangements sometimes lagged. Additionally, an anti-glare coating with 3H hardness has been added, which should better handle reflections from daylight.

Connectivity and Features

Philips equipped the new model with DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 ports, complemented by USB-A, USB-B, and USB-C with up to 65W power delivery. It also features three-sided Ambiglow, built-in 5W stereo speakers, and an integrated KVM switch for switching between multiple devices. So far, the monitor has only been introduced in China, and its price or availability for European markets are not known.

Czechs Loved the Predecessor, but It Has Its Flaws

The current Philips 32M2N8900 model sells for 20,290 CZK in the Czech Republic and was recently on sale for as low as 15,999 CZK. On Alza, it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars from 21 reviews — which is an excellent result for a monitor in this price category.

Customers primarily praise the picture quality, deep blacks, accurate factory colors, and solid HDR. The USB-C with video transmission and laptop charging is also repeatedly commended. On the other hand, two complaints regularly surface: the bottom bezel, which doesn’t always fit perfectly, and the impractically placed control joystick on the back. While the stand is sturdy, it takes up a lot of desk space — many users therefore recommend a VESA mount.

If the new 32M2N8900X model addresses these minor issues and arrives at a reasonable price, it could become one of the most attractive 4K OLED monitors on the market. Increased brightness and better subpixels are precisely the type of improvements that both gamers and people working with text and graphics will appreciate.

Is it worth waiting for the new model, or should you go for the predecessor on sale?
