The vast majority of Android TOP models offer wireless charging support, often with incredible power. The trade-off, however, is the need for active cooling. Furthermore, without a proprietary charger utilizing a manufacturer’s closed protocol, you are usually limited to very slow charging. This often still occurs via the Qi standard, thus at 5W power. However, Pixel 10 wireless charging is set to benefit from the capabilities of the Qi2 standard, specifically its latest, freshly introduced version.

How Fast Will Pixel 10 Wireless Charging Be?

The newly introduced Qi standard version 2.2.1 brings a significant acceleration in wireless charging compared to the previous version. Specifically, it will now offer up to 25W charging power. Naturally, compared to 50W and higher proprietary solutions from some manufacturers, this is still significantly lower power. On the other hand, it’s a very welcome improvement from the original 15W. Moreover, as I already mentioned, Qi2 does not require active cooling, which can currently only be achieved at lower charging power and with the help of magnetic attachment, most famously popularized by Apple with its iPhones, which also use Qi2 (in an older version).

Regarding availability in the world of Android smartphones, according to the latest information, Google smartphones should receive the newest Qi 2.2.1, as Google itself actively participates in the development of the Qi standard. Pixel 10 wireless charging will thus be faster than originally expected. Leaked specifications directly mention the presence of Qi2, but it was automatically assumed to be 15W power.

In addition to all the leaks, from specifications to Pixel 10 color variants, information has also emerged that Pixel 10 phones should also receive original magnetic accessories. These are expected to be branded PixelSnap. The Wireless Power Consortium, which is behind the Qi standard, mentioned during the introduction of the new Qi2 25W (as the standard’s trade name is) that “In addition to iPhones, a number of Android device manufacturers will also support the newer and faster Qi2 technology.” So, all that remains is to wait and see which Android manufacturers (finally) adopt the new standard.

How important is wireless charging for you when choosing a phone? And what power should it have?
