POCO C85 arrived in the Czech Republic. For less than 3 thousand, you get a huge battery and a 120Hz display

The Chinese brand POCO has launched its latest budget smartphone POCO C85 on the Czech market. The new device, which is actually a rebranded Redmi 15C model introduced here during the holidays, offers an interesting combination of a large display and an exceptionally capacious battery. With a price starting at 2,825 CZK, it targets less demanding customers.

Huge display with 120Hz refresh rate

The POCO C85 primarily impresses with its 6.9-inch IPS display, which is among the largest in this price category. The panel offers an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, ensuring smoother web scrolling and photo browsing. Additionally, Xiaomi has equipped the display with Wet Touch 2.0 technology, which allows control even with wet or greasy fingers.

Eye protection is provided by a trio of TÜV Rheinland certifications – specifically, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certificates. The display thus minimizes blue light and flickering, which will be especially appreciated by those who spend a lot of time with their phone.

Two-day battery life thanks to a 6000mAh battery

The main asset of the new device is undoubtedly the 6,000mAh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, can handle up to 22 hours of video playback or 82 hours of music listening. In normal use, the phone should last over two days on a single charge. Support for 33W charging will then replenish the battery to 50% in just 31 minutes.

An interesting feature is reverse charging, which allows the POCO C85 to serve as a power bank for charging other devices. Xiaomi also promises that the battery will retain at least 80% of its capacity even after 1000 charging cycles.

MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra and memory variants

Under the hood, an octa-core MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra processor ticks, which can handle basic tasks, web browsing, and video watching. However, the performance will not be sufficient for more demanding applications and games. The phone is sold in 4/128 GB or 6/128 GB configurations, with the RAM being virtually expandable up to 16 GB by utilizing part of the storage.

The system runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android. It brings support for connecting with other Xiaomi devices, including call synchronization and a shared clipboard. It also features Google Gemini integration for AI assistance and the Circle to Search function for searching content directly on the screen.

Dual cameras and IP64 resistance

The camera setup consists of a 50Mpx main sensor complemented by an auxiliary sensor. Xiaomi promises an Ultra HD mode for capturing details and a portrait mode with background blur. An 8Mpx front camera is used for selfies. However, one cannot expect miracles from a phone in this price category – the cameras will primarily serve for documentary photos in good lighting conditions.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and IP64 certification ensuring basic resistance to dust and splashing water. Xiaomi has also improved the speaker, which offers 200% higher volume compared to the standard setting.

Who is the POCO C85 suitable for?

The POCO C85 is primarily aimed at undemanding users who are looking for a phone with a large display and long battery life at the lowest possible price. It is suitable as a first smartphone for children, a backup phone, or for seniors who will appreciate the large display and simple controls. With a price starting from 2,825 CZK, it is among the most affordable phones with a 120Hz display on our market.

On the other hand, one must account for the limited processor performance, which is not sufficient for more demanding games or applications. The cameras also do not achieve the quality of more expensive models, and 5G network support is missing. For more demanding users, it will be a better choice to pay extra for more powerful models like POCO M7 or Redmi Note 14.
