POCO F8 Ultra confirmed! It will get a 6500mAh battery and 100W charging

Xiaomi yesterday unveiled the Redmi K90 Pro Max in China with a massive 7,560mAh battery. However, if you expect this battery to make it into the global version, which will be POCO F8 Ultra, we have bad news for you. According to a leak from HyperOS 3, the international model will have “only” 6,500 mAh – a 14% reduction.

Poco F8 Ultra to get a smaller battery

At first glance, it looks like a disappointment. Xiaomi takes a phone with one of the largest batteries on the market and cuts over 1,000 mAh for the global version. On the other hand, 6,500 mAh is still a decent capacity – and compared to last year’s Poco F7 Ultra, which had “only” 5,300 mAh, it’s a 23% increase.

The leak from user PaperKing13 is based on references found in the HyperOS 3 code, which already mention the battery capacity for the global model. We also already know that Poco F8 Ultra will support 100W wired charging – just like the Chinese version.

Xiaomi does this repeatedly, it’s no coincidence

This is not the first time Xiaomi has reduced battery capacity for global models. This year, it did the same with the Poco F7 Ultra, which received 5,300 mAh instead of 6,000 mAh from the Chinese Redmi K80 Pro. And now it’s happening again.

Reasons? Officially, Xiaomi remains silent, but several factors can be estimated. European regulations are stricter regarding battery safety. A larger battery means higher phone weight and thickness, which may not be acceptable everywhere. And of course, there’s also the cost factor – smaller battery = lower costs.

When will Poco F8 Ultra arrive?

It is not yet clear when Xiaomi will officially unveil the Poco F8 Ultra. If we follow last year’s schedule, it could be spring or summer 2026. The Redmi K90 Pro Max is currently on the market, so the global variant should arrive a few months later.
