POCO is preparing another tablet! It will come to Europe, be affordable, and offer mobile connectivity

Xiaomi will add another device to the Poco brand portfolio. This time it’s not a phone, but a tablet with mobile connectivity. Certifications in the GSMA database have revealed three variants of the model for different markets, indicating an upcoming global launch. It is likely an affordable model that will complement Xiaomi’s existing tablet offerings.

Certifications confirm mobile connectivity

Three model numbers have appeared in the GSMA database: 25128PC17L, 25128PC17G, and 25128PC17I. The letters at the end denote variants for different regions – “L” for Latin America, “G” for the global market, and “I” for India. All three versions share one key feature: a SIM card slot. This means the tablet will not rely solely on Wi-Fi but will also offer 4G or 5G connectivity.

Certifications in government agency databases, such as the American FCC or GSMA, are among the most reliable sources of information about upcoming devices. Manufacturers must obtain permits before launching products with wireless technologies, so these records are created even before the company officially announces anything.

December 2025 or January 2026?

The model number reveals more than meets the eye. The first four digits usually indicate the planned month and year of launch. In this case, “2512” suggests December 2025. The “8PC17” designation then refers to an internal code for a Poco device.

This would align with Xiaomi’s strategy of launching new products just before the end of the year or at the beginning of the next, to capture Christmas shopping or the January kickoff. However, it’s not a 100% certainty – certification can precede the actual release by several months.

Poco Pad SE with mobile connectivity

According to leaked information, the tablet has the internal code Q85X. This is interesting because the previous Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G model had the designation N85X. The similarity suggests that the new Poco tablet will likely be an affordable variant with the SE suffix (Special Edition).

The name could be Poco Pad SE, or possibly Poco Pad 4G or Poco Pad 5G – depending on which mobile network Xiaomi ultimately implements. Mobile connectivity is the main difference compared to regular Wi-Fi models and primarily targets students and people who use their tablet on the go.

However, it remains to be seen how much the Poco Pad will differ from the existing Redmi Pad SE. Xiaomi has a habit of recycling hardware between brands and only changing the name and minor details. If the new tablet is just a rebranded version of an existing model, it won’t be a revolution – just an expansion of distribution under a different brand.
