POCO X8 Pro Max: These are 4 reasons why you should seriously consider it Home News POCO X8 Pro Max is the brand's first phone with the Pro Max moniker and offers an 8,500mAh battery in a body thinner than most competitors Its flagship Dimensity 9500s chipset ranks it in benchmarks alongside phones twice its price For 13,299 CZK, you get premium build quality with IP69K, an AMOLED display with 3,500 nits brightness, and 100W charging Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 11. 4. 2026 04:30 The mid-range in 2026 is overflowing with phones that pretend to be exceptional while offering the same as last year. The POCO X8 Pro Max doesn’t quite fit into this category. Not that it rewrites the rules — but in several disciplines, it raises the bar so high that even significantly more expensive phones take notice. After several days of testing, I’m clear on what makes it exceptional. And also what doesn’t. 1. A battery where you stop counting percentages 2. Performance unmatched at this price 3. Premium Body 4. A display that saves eyes and nerves And what are the catches? 1. A battery where you stop counting percentages Let me put it plainly: The POCO X8 Pro Max has the best battery life I’ve experienced in a phone in this price category. The 8,500 mAh battery uses silicon-carbon technology, allowing such a massive capacity to fit into a body just 8.2 mm thick. That’s a thickness you’d expect from a phone with a five-thousand-mAh battery. In practice, this means two-day battery life — and I don’t mean a situation where the phone mostly sits on a table. I’m talking about regular use with social media, photography, navigation, and evening scrolling. With a less intensive style, you can easily get up to three days. During the entire week of testing, I charged the phone three times. That’s an experience you quickly get used to — and it’s hard to go back from. KOUPIT POCO X8 PRO MAX V AKCI When you do reach for the cable, 100W charging (HyperCharge) can get the phone from zero to full capacity in under an hour. In half an hour, you’ll have roughly 60%, which feels almost unreal for a battery of this size. However, you’ll need a charger with PPS support. An added bonus: 27W reverse wired charging turns the phone into a power bank for headphones or watches. 2. Performance unmatched at this price The POCO X8 Pro Max is the very first phone outside of China with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. It’s a slightly cut-down version of the flagship Dimensity 9500, manufactured with a 3nm process, featuring one powerful Cortex-X925 core at 3.73 GHz and Immortalis-G925 graphics. In translation: this is silicon that normally appears in phones costing 20,000 CZK and above. In benchmarks, the Max scores around 8,500 points in Geekbench 6 multi-core, placing it between the Google Pixel 10 and OnePlus 15R — both significantly more expensive. In everyday use, the system responds instantly, apps launch without delay, and switching between them is smooth. No lags, no waiting. The phone does warm up after extended gaming, but I never felt the need to put it down. The combination of a powerful chip and efficient cooling simply works. Anyone looking for a gaming phone without a gaming price tag has it here. 3. Premium Body Historically, POCO mostly stuck with plastic, and no one was too surprised — at those prices, it was understandable. But the X8 Pro Max comes with an aluminum frame and glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. When you pick up the phone, it doesn’t feel like a thirteen-thousand-crown device. It feels more expensive. In addition, you get flagship-level durability. The POCO X8 Pro Max meets IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K — the latter meaning protection even against high-pressure hot water jets. In practice, this means rain, sand, or an accidental drop into a puddle won’t surprise the phone. The model has also passed SGS five-star certification for drop and bend resistance. Hidden under the display is an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, a rarity for a phone in this price category. It’s fast, accurate, and works reliably even with a slightly damp finger. And then there are the RGB LED rings around the cameras that react to notifications, music, or charging. It’s not a feature you’d buy the phone for, but it adds personality in an otherwise uniform sea of mid-range phones. 4. A display that saves eyes and nerves The 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate is among the best you’ll get in this class. Colors are accurate right out of the box — no need for manual tuning in settings — and blacks are as deep as you’d expect from an OLED. However, brightness is key. POCO states a peak value of 3,500 nits, and in practice, this means trouble-free readability even in direct spring sunlight. With automatic brightness, the phone handles every situation, while the minimum backlight is low enough for comfortable night reading. Furthermore, 3,840 Hz PWM dimming minimizes flickering, so even more sensitive eyes should be satisfied. I must also praise the stereo speakers. For a thirteen-thousand-crown phone, they play surprisingly clearly, with a reasonable soundstage width and solid bass. At maximum volume, they start to distort a bit, but anyone blasting music from their phone probably isn’t concerned with audiophile matters anyway. Dolby Atmos support is a nice bonus for watching movies. And what are the catches? It would be unfair to claim that the POCO X8 Pro Max has no weaknesses. The camera is average — the main 50Mpx sensor can take decent photos in good light, but the 8Mpx ultrawide lens is noticeably weaker, and a telephoto lens is completely absent. It’s enough for Instagram, but not much more. Anyone looking for a camera phone should look elsewhere. And wireless charging is missing. It’s not a surprise in the mid-range, but I have to mention it — if you have a wireless charging pad on your nightstand, it will be useless with this phone. KOUPIT POCO X8 PRO MAX V AKCI Despite these reservations, the POCO X8 Pro Max for 13,299 CZK (on sale at Alza for even 11,297 CZK!) is a phone that offers more than it should. Extreme battery life, flagship performance, and premium build quality — that’s a combination you simply won’t get elsewhere for this money. If you don’t mind an average camera and somewhat messy software, it’s one of the most interesting phones of this year. Would you prefer extreme battery life, or a better camera for the same money?
