QHD resolution with 180 Hz for under three and a half thousand is a combination you won’t find very often at this level – you either get Full HD with a high refresh rate, or QHD with a slow panel. The Samsung Odyssey G5 now costs 3,489 CZK with code ALZADNY10 and offers both at once.

👍 Get it if you want one monitor for both gaming and work and appreciate a fully adjustable stand, including pivot.
🤔 Hesitate if you care about HDR – 300 nits brightness is too low for true HDR, so consider it more of a formality in the specs.
💰 Price: 3,489 CZK for a 27″ QHD with 180 Hz, a matte panel, and 99% sRGB, plus both cables included in the package.

QHD is the right choice for 27 inches

On a 27-inch diagonal, Full HD starts to show its limits – pixels are coarser and text is less sharp. QHD (2560 × 1440) is the ideal compromise for this size: the image is significantly finer than Full HD, but a graphics card can handle it much more easily than 4K. Plus, 180 Hz and a 1 ms response time, so the monitor is fully usable for shooters and fast-paced action games.

The features beyond gaming are also interesting. 99% sRGB coverage means accurate colors usable for photo editing, a matte surface suppresses reflections in a bright room, and a fully adjustable stand allows for height, tilt, and pivot adjustment – useful for programmers, reading documents, or browsing long web pages. Image synchronization works with both FreeSync, and the monitor is G-Sync compatible, so it works with both AMD and Nvidia cards. And a nice detail: both cables are included in the package, HDMI and DisplayPort.

Where the limits are

300 nits brightness and 1000:1 contrast are typical values for IPS panels in this class – perfectly sufficient for regular work and gaming, but HDR support here is more marketing-oriented. True HDR requires brightness above 600 nits and local dimming, so don’t expect anything from this feature. Black will be more dark gray in dark scenes, which is standard for IPS panels.

Also missing is USB-C, and the monitor does not have integrated speakers (there is only a headphone output). However, for gamers and home offices where you want one monitor for everything and care about ergonomics, this is a very reasonable purchase for under 3,500 CZK.

Do you game in Full HD, or have you already switched to QHD?
