Quick Share for iPhones is on the horizon. We know how it will work

Quick Share is a great system for transferring data between phones. Google and Samsung independently came up with it, with Samsung’s solution proving to be so much better that Google replaced its own with it. Now, Quick Share can be found on all Android phones.

In addition, there is an app for Windows, making it possible to conveniently transfer data between a phone and, for example, a regular laptop. Apple, however, resisted for a long time. It has its own AirDrop system, which is closed and only works within its ecosystem.

Google has started development of an app for iOS. We already know that to use it, you will need a Google account. Now, more information is coming to light, explaining why this is the case. Quick Share can function in two ways. Ideally, it can establish a direct connection between devices, either via Bluetooth or, in a better case, via Wi-Fi. Data transfer thus occurs directly between devices and is very fast.

Sharing via Link

If a direct connection cannot be established, sharing via a link or QR code can be used. Data is then uploaded to a server, where it remains stored for some time, and the recipient downloads it from the cloud. The advantage is that the sender and recipient do not have to be in direct contact; the disadvantage is more cumbersome sending and receiving, as well as dependence on an internet connection.

Apple likely complicates direct transfer in some way, so Quick Share for iOS will only support the second mentioned method of data transfer. The sender will upload the data to a server, and the recipient will then download it. Data on the server will be stored for 24 hours.
