After a ten-year hiatus, MSI has returned to air CPU cooling — and hit the mark immediately. The MAG CoreFrozr AA13 is on Alza for 581 CZK, compared to the original 969 CZK. For that price, you get a compact single-tower cooler that surprisingly keeps up with significantly larger dual-tower models in tests. It’s quiet, easy to install, and fits into most mid-tower cases.

Quick summary:
Makes sense as a cooler for mid-range processors — Intel Core Ultra 5/7 or AMD Ryzen 5/7 — where it offers an ideal balance between temperatures and noise.
⚠️ Consider that it might not be sufficient for Core Ultra 9 / i9 or Ryzen 9, and the package does not include a kit for mounting a second fan in a push-pull configuration.
💡 For 581 CZK, you get 4 copper heatpipes with direct contact, a 120mm fan up to 34.1 dB, ARGB lighting, and compatibility with AM4, AM5, LGA 1700, and LGA 1851.

Small cooler, big surprise

Four 6mm copper heatpipes with direct contact dissipate heat to a 50-fin radiator. The single 120mm fan with a Rifle Bearing operates in the range of 510–2,070 RPM with automatic regulation and a maximum noise level of 34.1 dB — it is practically inaudible under normal load. An airflow of 62.6 CFM and a static pressure of 2.36 mmH₂O ensure efficient heat dissipation even in a compact design.

MSI states compatibility with processors up to 240W TDP based on tests with the Core i9-14900K. In independent tests, the cooler competed in performance with significantly larger models like the XPG Maestro Plus 62DA — which is a dual-tower with two fans. Dimensions of 121 × 152 × 95 mm mean that the cooler will not interfere with most RAM modules and will fit into standard mid-tower cases. Installation is simple, and compatibility covers current sockets for both platforms — AM4, AM5, LGA 1700, and the latest LGA 1851.

What to consider

If you are building a system with a Ryzen 9 or Core Ultra 9, it would be wiser to opt for a dual-tower cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 or an AiO liquid cooling solution. The CoreFrozr AA13 is optimal for the mid-range, where it offers temperatures comparable to more expensive solutions with significantly lower noise levels. The package lacks a mounting kit for a second fan — if you wanted a push-pull configuration, you would have to attach it improvisationally.

Air cooling, or AiO liquid cooling — what do you prefer in your build?
