Black Friday brings interesting discounts even on lower mid-range Androids. You can now buy the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 at Alza for 2,990 CZK, while it normally costs 4,290 CZK. A discount of 1,300 crowns is not negligible, and for three thousand, you get a phone that may not impress with its performance, but for everyday use – social media, photos, and communication – it’s more than enough.

What you get for three thousand

The Redmi Note 14 in the 6/128 GB version offers decent features for its price category. Its main asset is a 6.67″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. This means smooth animations and comfortable video watching. The display is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and can light up to 1,800 nits, so you’ll see something even in direct sunlight.

The battery has a capacity of 5,500 mAh, which, combined with an undemanding processor, means solid endurance – one full day without problems, maybe even a day and a half with lighter use. 33W charging is not rocket performance, but it’s standard in this price category.

The camera has 108 Mpx on paper, and in reality, this means decent daytime photos and acceptable results in low-light conditions. The main sensor is joined by an 8Mpx ultrawide lens and a 2Mpx macro. The selfie camera has 20 Mpx and gets the job done.

What the phone lacks

Let’s be honest: for three thousand, you can’t expect miracles. The MediaTek Helio G99 processor is built for efficiency, not performance. Demanding games like Genshin Impact or Call of Duty Mobile will have to be played on lower details. But for common apps, web browsing, or Instagram, it’s perfectly sufficient.

The phone cannot record 4K video – only Full HD at most. That’s a bit outdated in 2025. The European package also lacks a charger. If you don’t have one at home with USB-C support and at least 33 W, you’ll have to buy one.

Who the phone is suitable for

The Redmi Note 14 for 2,990 CZK is a solid choice for people who don’t need top-tier performance and are content with a phone that simply works. It’s suitable for parents, grandparents, students, or as a backup phone. If you spend most of your time on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and occasionally watch a video on YouTube, this is exactly the phone for you.

However, if you play demanding games, record a lot of videos, or need a phone that can handle multitasking with dozens of open apps, you should look elsewhere.
