Xiaomi has revealed what the new generation of its popular mid-range series will look like, and for the first time officially confirmed some of the base model’s features. The biggest change will be to the rear: the camera module moves to the top left corner and gets a square shape, similar to what OnePlus adopted for its flagship this year. The Redmi Note 17 series will be launched on July 14.

What does the new Redmi Note 17 design look like?

According to the official teaser, the brand will abandon the previous layout where the lenses were roughly in the middle of the upper half of the back. They will now move to a square island in the top left corner, within which the lenses are housed in an elongated, pill-shaped module. The phone will thus strikingly resemble this year’s OnePlus 15, which opted for a very similarly designed rear.

According to the first images, the base Redmi Note 17 will feature a single visible lens, while the more powerful Pro will get a dual setup. The brand also showed that the new devices will offer rounded corners and will come in at least blue and purple variants.

What did Xiaomi reveal about the base model?

For the very first time, the manufacturer also officially spoke about the features of the standard model. It is set to receive the largest OLED display Redmi has ever used in this series – the diagonal is expected to reach approximately seven inches, complemented by a 120Hz refresh rate and brightness up to 1200 nits. Power will be provided by an 8000 mAh battery, which is unfortunately slightly less than a previous leak promised (we wrote about it with the first leaked specifications).

The manufacturer also promises improved resistance to drops and water. What remains under wraps, however, is the charging speed of the base model – this has not been officially stated. And since the phone is not yet on the market, consider the confirmed parameters more as a teaser than a final specification.

When will it arrive in the Czech Republic and how much will it cost?

The July 14 premiere is currently only for China. The global version, which the Czech Republic is also waiting for, usually arrives several weeks to months later and sometimes differs from the Chinese version in terms of features and battery capacity. Xiaomi has not yet announced the Czech price, and it doesn’t make sense to estimate it now. However, unlike foldables, the Redmi Note series traditionally reaches domestic markets, so an European variant is likely to follow.
