Chinese Xiaomi today officially launched the long-awaited Redmi Watch 6 smartwatch on its domestic market, bringing several significant improvements over last year’s model. The new device stands out primarily with its larger AMOLED display, the addition of a second physical button, and the transition to the latest HyperOS 3 operating system. In China, the watch sells for 599 yuan, which converts to approximately 1,800 CZK.

Improved Design with a Second Button

The Redmi Watch 6 retains the square design of its predecessor but introduces important structural changes. The control crown has moved to the upper part of the right side and received a red accent, while a completely new function button has been added to the lower part. This allows quick access to the control center with a single press, a long press brings up the power-off menu, and a triple click calls an emergency contact.

The construction uses a high-strength aluminum frame, which, according to the manufacturer, is 40% stronger than its predecessor. The watch measures 46.45 × 40.03 × 9.94 mm and weighs just 31 grams without the strap. It is available in three color variants: Misty Blue, Elegant Black, and Moonlight Silver.

Larger and Brighter AMOLED Display

The main attraction is the 2.07-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 432 × 514 pixels and a density of 324 PPI. The screen boasts extremely narrow 2mm bezels on all four sides and achieves an 82% screen-to-body ratio. The maximum brightness is 2,000 nits, ensuring good readability even in direct sunlight.

The display supports a 60Hz refresh rate for smooth animations and also a 5Hz Always-On Display, which is now colorful. Users can thus see the time and basic information even when the screen is off, without significantly impacting battery life.

Impressive Battery Life of up to 24 Days

The Redmi Watch 6 are equipped with a 550mAh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, lasts up to 24 days in basic mode, 12 days with typical use with active health monitoring, or 7 days with the AOD display on. The watch is charged using a magnetic charger, which is included in the package.

To ensure precise feedback, the watch includes a linear vibration motor with over 20 different vibration patterns for various types of notifications, which will be especially appreciated by users who wear the watch daily.

HyperOS 3 and Integration with the Xiaomi Ecosystem

The watch runs on the latest HyperOS 3 operating system, which brings deeper integration with the Xiaomi ecosystem. Through the Xiaomi Super Island feature, the watch displays interactive notifications and allows smart home control directly from the wrist. It also supports the Xiao Ai voice assistant for voice commands in Chinese.

Android users will appreciate the ability to reply to WeChat messages directly from the watch using preset responses. The watch also supports 13 third-party applications, including NetEase Cloud Music, and 10 mini-games. An NFC chip is also present for contactless payments via Alipay, use as a transit card, or unlocking supported cars from brands like Xiaomi, BMW, BYD, and others.

Advanced Sports and Health Features

The Redmi Watch 6 offer over 150 sports modes, including automatic recognition of walking, running, and cycling. The watch is equipped with dual L1 GNSS antennas that automatically switch based on wrist position to ensure the best signal. It supports satellite systems GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou.

Health monitoring includes 24-hour heart rate measurement, all-day blood oxygen measurement, high-precision sleep tracking, stress monitoring, and a special mode for women’s health. Thanks to 5ATM certification, the watch is waterproof up to 50 meters and even supports underwater heart rate measurement during swimming.

Price and Availability

In China, the Redmi Watch 6 sells for 599 yuan (approximately 1,800 CZK without tax). Given that its predecessor, the Redmi Watch 5, sold for 2,599 CZK in the Czech Republic, a similar price can be expected for the new model if it officially arrives here. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed global launch plans, but given the success of previous models, their arrival on the European market is highly probable.

Would you buy the Redmi Watch 6 if it arrived in the Czech Republic?
