The range of affordable smartwatches under the Redmi brand continues to grow in the Czech Republic. Two cheaper models are now joining the basic Redmi Watch 6, which has been available here since spring – the Redmi Watch 6 Lite for 1,549 CZK and the most affordable Redmi Watch 6 Active for 999 CZK. Both feature an AMOLED display with Always On functionality, can make calls via Bluetooth, and according to Xiaomi, last up to 18 days on a single charge. However, you’ll feel a crucial difference between them when you want to get into the water with the watch.

We previously reported on both new products when the first information about their prices and features leaked. Now, Xiaomi has officially added the duo to its Czech e-shop, and they have also appeared at other retailers. The cheaper Active and the more expensive Lite are aimed at slightly different users – and it’s worth knowing how they differ.

Redmi Watch 6 Lite are not afraid of water and have GPS

The more expensive of the two targets a more active audience. It features a 1.96″ AMOLED display with a brightness of up to 1500 nits, which is the largest and brightest panel of both models. It is complemented by Always On Display and adaptive brightness, so you can see the watch face even in direct sunlight.

However, the main advantage lies in its sports features. The Redmi Watch 6 Lite is the only one of the pair capable of swimming – with 5 ATM water resistance (corresponding to pressure at approximately fifty meters depth) and a nine-axis sensor, it tracks pace, stroke count, and SWOLF efficiency in the pool. Additionally, it features built-in five-system GNSS, which, according to the manufacturer, allows you to record the route of an outdoor run or bike ride even without your phone in your pocket. There are over 150 sports modes.

The case measures 9.9 mm thick and, with a weight of 27.8 grams without the strap, it is among the lighter watches. Moreover, you can change the strap in a few seconds thanks to the quick-release system.

The cheaper model’s features are not bad either

The basic model takes the path of economy. The display has shrunk to 1.85″ and the brightness has dropped to 1200 nits, but it is still an AMOLED with Always On Display. The watch is slightly lighter (26 grams) and as thin as its more expensive sibling.

The most noticeable compromise is in water resistance: the Active only has IP68 protection, so while it can survive sweat, rain, and rinsing under the tap, Xiaomi explicitly does not recommend swimming or wearing it in a pool. The manufacturer does not mention built-in satellite navigation for this model, so expect route tracking via a connected phone instead. However, it does feature a vitality score function, which attempts to summarize your current fitness with a single number.

What do the watches have in common?

Aside from price and swimming, both new products have a lot in common. The foundation consists of all-day heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), stress, and sleep tracking, along with breathing exercises and female cycle tracking. Both models can make calls via Bluetooth directly from the wrist.

The battery life is also identical, with Xiaomi stating up to 18 days – however, this is a laboratory value in the most power-saving mode. For typical use, the manufacturer promises 12 days, and for intensive use, approximately 6 days, which we cannot independently verify. Both models also feature an AMOLED display with Always On Display and offer quick-release straps.

You can buy the Redmi Watch 6 Active for 999 CZK, and the better-equipped Redmi Watch 6 Lite for 1,549 CZK. The watches are already available in the manufacturer’s official e-shop and at some retailers like Alza.
