The cheapest Blackwell architecture card from NVIDIA now costs even less. You can buy the Gainward GeForce RTX 5050 Ghost 8GB on Alza for 6,499 CZK instead of the original 7,999 CZK. For 1080p gamers who want DLSS 4 with Transformer upscaling and don’t want to spend on more expensive models, this is currently the most accessible entry into the new generation. You can find the current price and availability in the product detail on Alza.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you play at 1080p, want the latest DLSS 4 with Transformer upscaling, and are looking for a card with minimal power supply and case requirements.
⚠️ Consider if you need more than 8 GB VRAM or are tempted by the 12GB Intel Arc B580 for a similar price – we recently wrote about it.
💡 For 6,499 CZK you get Blackwell, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, 4th generation ray tracing, DisplayPort 2.1b, and a power consumption of only 130 W.

What RTX 5050 offers and where it stands

RTX 5050 is the successor to the RTX 3050 – NVIDIA skipped the desktop 4050 generation. It is built on the new GB207 chip with 2,560 CUDA cores, 8 GB GDDR6, and a bandwidth of 320 GB/s. Its main weapon is not raw performance, but DLSS 4 with Transformer upscaling – a new AI upscaling model that is significantly higher quality than the previous CNN version. In Quality mode, the image looks almost like native resolution, without typical flickering and blurry textures. And this only works on cards with Tensor Cores, i.e., the RTX series.

In raw 1080p benchmarks without upscaling, the RTX 5050 falls slightly behind the RTX 4060. However, with DLSS 4, it can handle most AAA games at high details above 60 FPS. The card also supports Multi Frame Generation (generating up to 4× frames), although in practice, it is mainly useful in slower single-player titles.

RTX 5050 vs. Intel Arc B580: what to choose

For a similar price (the B580 is on Alza for 6,590 CZK) you have two realistic choices. The Intel Arc B580 offers 12 GB VRAM and slightly higher raw performance, but DLSS Transformer is qualitatively superior to XeSS 2. In practice, this means: the B580 has more memory and higher FPS, while the RTX 5050 has better upscaling and broader game support. If you have an older CPU without ReBAR, the RTX 5050 is a safer choice – Intel Arc depends more significantly on ReBAR. If VRAM capacity for the future is crucial for you, the B580 with 12 GB provides a greater reserve.

Practical aspects: cooling, power, outputs

The Gainward Ghost version is a compact dual-slot card (262 × 126 × 40 mm) with two 95mm fans and Zero RPM mode – the fans stop completely at low load. According to reviews, the card is almost inaudible during gaming. Power consumption during gaming is around 130 W, requiring one 8-pin connector and a power supply of 550 W or more – meaning you can install it even in an older or office PC. Outputs: 3× DisplayPort 2.1b and 1× HDMI 2.1b. The backplate is plastic, not metal – this doesn’t affect cooling, but it doesn’t feel premium.

Verdict

The Gainward RTX 5050 Ghost for 6,499 CZK is the cheapest entry into the Blackwell ecosystem with DLSS 4, ray tracing, and minimal power supply requirements. For 1080p gamers who want NVIDIA and modern AI upscaling, this is currently the most sensible choice in the budget of around six and a half thousand. However, if you prefer more VRAM and don’t mind the Intel ecosystem, the Intel Arc B580 with 12 GB is available for a similar price. You can find other graphics cards on sale in the current Alza Days.
