Samsung Galaxy A07 (4G) Officially Unveiled! Extra Affordable Phone Entices with Excellent Support and Decent Performance

Samsung chose a relatively peculiar tactic for introducing its new smartphone. The Galaxy A07 appeared in Indonesian and Ukrainian e-shops so discreetly that only a few of the sharpest observers noticed. Yet, it’s a phone that deserves attention – at least for one parameter that surpasses even some last year’s flagships.

When you buy a phone for three thousand and get update support until 2031, that’s definitely appealing. Last year’s predecessor, the A06, only received 2 updates, which is (unfortunately) still the standard for most competitors.

Helio G99: A veteran that still gets the job done

Under the hood ticks the MediaTek Helio G99, which might disappoint some. It’s a chipset from 2022, but it still makes sense in the entry-level segment. Compared to last year’s model with the G85 processor, it’s a significant leap forward – a more modern 6nm manufacturing process instead of outdated 12nm, Cortex-A76 cores instead of prehistoric A55, and Mali-G57 graphics instead of G52.

In practice, this means the phone can handle everyday tasks without stuttering, but forget about demanding games or multitasking. However, for the target audience of this model – people who want a functional smartphone for calls, messages, social media, and occasional photography – it is perfectly sufficient.

Display with a teardrop notch

Samsung saved on the display, but not where it would hurt the most. A 6.7-inch diagonal with a 90Hz refresh rate is standard in this price category. The resolution is worse – HD+ (720p) in 2025 feels a bit archaic, especially on such a large panel. You will simply see the pixels if you look closely.

An even greater return to the past is the notch for the front camera. While competitors in the entry-level segment have already moved to punch-hole cutouts, Samsung sticks with a solution that was modern six years ago. The 8Mpx selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture is average – sufficient for video calls, less so for Instagram.

Main 50MP Camera

Marketing loves big numbers, so the Galaxy A07 received a 50Mpx main camera with an f/1.8 aperture. In reality, it will likely be a simple sensor that takes usable photos in good light but quickly loses steam in low light. The second 2Mpx depth sensor is more for show – its practical contribution is minimal.

The phone can record video at a maximum of Full HD resolution at 30 fps, which is typical for the entry-level segment.

Other Features

Samsung didn’t forget about things that still make sense in the entry-level segment. Dual SIM with a dedicated microSD card slot will please anyone who doesn’t want to choose between a second SIM and memory expansion. There’s also a 3.5mm jack, which owners of traditional headphones will appreciate.

A pleasant surprise is the IP54 certification – meaning the phone will survive rain or dusty environments, but don’t take it into water. The 5000mAh battery with 25W charging is a standard that ensures comfortable all-day endurance.

Connectivity remains basic – Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C 2.0. For 5G, you’ll have to pay extra for more expensive models, but the target audience for this phone probably won’t even care about that.

How much will all this cost?

In Indonesia, the price starts at 1.4 million rupiah (about 1,800 CZK) for the basic 4/64 GB version. If the phone reaches the Czech Republic, a price of around 3,000 CZK can be expected, possibly a bit more due to higher margins and VAT.

Samsung will offer several memory configurations from 4/64 GB up to 8/256 GB, with the sweet spot for most users being 6/128 GB. A 5G version of the Galaxy A07 is not yet on the horizon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it appeared in the coming months.

Quiet waters that might break the banks

The Galaxy A07 is a typical example of Samsung’s ability to make sensible phones for undemanding users, they just don’t know how to market them properly. The combination of a decent processor, a large battery, and especially record-breaking software support makes it an interesting choice for anyone who is looking for a phone for several years ahead and doesn’t want to pay a fortune for it.

Sure, the HD+ display with a notch feels outdated in 2025, and the camera won’t perform miracles. But for three thousand crowns, you get a phone that will receive updates until 2031. That’s an offer that competitors in this price category will find hard to beat. It’s a shame that Samsung is keeping completely silent about it.
