In addition to increasing listener demands, mutual competition also drives manufacturers of wireless earbuds forward. Today, it’s no longer just about sound quality – roles that certainly cannot be considered secondary are also played by ergonomics, noise cancellation, battery life, smart features, or even the integration of AI assistants. There are simply many areas in which earbuds advance with each generation, often by leaps and bounds, and it may not be obvious at first glance.

Last month, Samsung introduced a new generation of Galaxy Buds4 earbuds. After moving away from earplugs last year and switching to a stem design similar to what the now essentially iconic Apple AirPods use, the design changes cannot be called revolutionary, but a slight transformation is noticeable in both models. However, most of the main upgrades are not apparent at first glance.

Naturally, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro model, which was priced at 6,199 CZK on our market, entices with the very best sound experience. It thus clearly falls into the category of premium earbuds suitable for users who want to indulge in a cocktail of top-notch sound quality, advanced features, and maximum comfort. Let’s take a look together at what makes these earbuds interesting and what experiences I’ve gathered with them.

Fresh look for the earbuds and case

As I hinted above, while the differences in appearance are not as dramatic as between the second and third generations of Galaxy Buds, if you’ve seen the previous model at least once, you’ll notice them almost immediately.

The body of the Galaxy Buds4 Pro themselves is rounder this time. Samsung moved away from sharp edges and at the same time removed the light strip from the stem. In any case, silicone ear tips, following the example of AirPods Pro, remain.

The case shares only one element with the Galaxy Buds3 Pro case (besides the USB-C port and the manufacturer’s logo, of course), and that is the transparent lid. Its shape resembles a rounded square, and the earbuds are laid into it, meaning they are not placed vertically with the stem first.

What I particularly appreciate about the case is its support for wireless charging, which, based on my experience with Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, I consider one of the most practical features of premium earbuds. I constantly forget to charge the case, and it can really ruin my day when it runs out of battery somewhere outdoors.

It wouldn’t work without new internals

Samsung decided to make significant changes to the internals of the Galaxy Buds4 Pro earbuds. The most important was probably the replacement of the deep driver (woofer), which is responsible for bass. Its effective area increased by almost 20%, which, according to the manufacturer, should result in richer details at lower frequencies. I can truly praise the bass, especially as a listener of harder drum and bass genres, where it really shines.

Samsung also highlights the relocation of the two-way speaker to the top of the earbuds’ metal body. According to its own words, this will lead to higher efficiency of active noise cancellation and a better listening experience in less favorable weather conditions or noisy environments.

The South Korean manufacturer also managed to fit slightly larger batteries into both the Galaxy Buds4 Pro and their case. Each earbud now has a capacity of 61 mAh (originally 53 mAh), and the charging case has 530 mAh (compared to 515 mAh in the previous model). Samsung does not state a longer battery life as such, but the larger batteries likely contribute to the earbuds being able to play for a similar duration as the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, even with more energy-intensive technologies.

Software and Features: Smarter ANC and Better Calls

As is Samsung’s custom, developments in the software field are even more appealing to users. The traditional ANC improvement is a given, affecting not only its effectiveness but also its ability to automatically adapt to the surrounding environment. During testing, I was very satisfied with it; when listening to music, it had no problem filtering out noise on a bus or a moving train, and purely subjectively, it seems more effective to me than Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2. However, Galaxy Buds4 Pro can also impress with features that extend beyond the world of music.

For example, we can highlight the Super Clear Call feature, which suppresses noise and enhances voice during calls regardless of the application. Samsung specifically promises “exceptionally clear transmission with twice the bandwidth compared to regular Bluetooth calls,” but support only applies to Galaxy phones with One UI 6.1.1 or higher.

From a user convenience perspective, the key is the ability to control the earbuds directly from the phone’s overlay – even without the Galaxy Wearable app installed, you can easily fine-tune the equalizer or set individual functions. However, you must have a smartphone from the same manufacturer for this. Galaxy Buds4 Pro can be connected to a phone or tablet simply by opening the case.

However, there are more features exclusive to Galaxy devices. In addition to those mentioned above, these include 24bit/96kHz audio quality, 360 audio and associated recording, voice wake-up for AI assistants, real-time translation, head gestures, and gaming mode.

Also worth mentioning is gesture control, although its method seems less practical to me compared to competing solutions. It will take a while for one to get used to it and even figure out how it works. I’m mainly referring to pressing the stem to switch between noise cancellation modes, which I don’t consider to be the most user-friendly method.

Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro earbuds arrived on the Czech market in white and black colors. They are also available in an exclusive Pink Gold variant, which, however, is only available in the manufacturer’s official e-shop. The recommended retail price is 6,199 CZK

Users who purchase the new Galaxy Buds4 Pro earbuds or the cheaper Buds4 model and register their review of at least 250 characters on novysamsung.cz by March 31, 2026, can then receive one of three unique cases.

What impressed you most about the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro?
